Host Gator Sponsors UFC 105 Co-Headliner Brandon Vera

Ok so this one had me scratching my head... Host Gator had bought ad space on the back of Brandon Vera's shorts.

I immediately recognized it and told my wife about it since I use Host Gator.

Problem is I knew it instantly because of the Gator mascot/logo. At no time during the fight did I read "Host Gator".

My point is if you are going to spend advertising dollars to get in front of millions of people then at least make sure your advertisement clearly states the product being promoted - not just a logo that only some people are familiar with.

Sounds like Internet Marketing.... hmmm....

Good point! I am a die-hard ufc fan (since 94) and former jiu-jitsu guy and I would recognize the logo, but the masses out there would have no clue, on what that logo is all about. that's horrible marketing and money wasted by hostgator.

We have followed the UFC from UFC 1 to present. We buy all the pay per views and catch every free event or Ultimate Fight Nights.

I have some pics of me with Matt Hughes, his sick custom chopper and his tricked out UFC Hummer he got for coaching the Ultimate Fighter but I don't think the mod's would want me posting them as that would be off topic for sure.

I doubt it would have been more than a few thousand bucks (easy swallowed by big companies) and I bet the marketing director scored some sweet ringside seats.

Sport sponsorship a lot of the time seems to be more of a peeing contest for companies to prove how big and successful they are as opposed to direct response advertising or even brand awareness.

PS Well done harding and bisping, top fights. Vera was robbed!

Wow, I watched the fight and didn't even notice the logo, maybe because Vera had his back pressed up to the cage the whole fight !
Hmmm, I wonder how much the payed for that advertising?

I have been thinking of doing a MMA niche site, but don't think it would be
a big money maker. I may do it anyway just because I enjoy the subject
matter. I have found a few affiliate programs for MMA stuff but don't
think many of the searches are going to be buyers.

Well, since I'm here: Did you see Manny Pacquiao demolish Miguel Cotto? That was scary.
