Is there a Free Website Builder That Would Allow Visitors To Download PDF Files

Hi Warriors:

Could you please tell me if there are free website builders where you can have PDF Files on the site available for any visitor to download?

I want to try an experiment with some PDF Files with links inside that can be downloaded without anyone having to put in an email address when on the site.

Researching the major players of the free website builder industry there did not see the ability for me to upload files to the site (excluding photos).

Thank you for your time and be safe,
CF

ASW (Amazon Web Services) has a free tier for what is known as Ec2 instances (*upload WordPress for example) - you can use Route 53 on their FREE tier to set up your DNS (Designated Name Servers) - and if I remember correctly, you set up FREE FTP (FileZilla - File Transfer Protocols) to upload .zip files for {PDF} downloads... and get a FREE SSL (secure https: encrypted site) - but I honestly don't know if you can FREE storage with their S3 storage and deliver that way(?)...as a lot of seasoned marketers use AWS S3 to deliver eBooks, PDF's, video storage for memberships and modules through AWS secure delivery systems.

The alternatives could be any number of SaaS networks that include free trials, site builders, and hosting - so long as you can upload your .zip files and make it downloadable.

I have been told that Dropbox can actually work, all you need is the link and create the PDF in a free word processor, open office, or free version of Office suite by MS... give a direct download link to the DropBox file...probably the easiest way, actually for FREE.

Thereto, I have been looking at WebFlow, it shares a similar design platform as Photoshop, but if you are new it may require some learning, but they have a FREE TRIAL right now too...now sure if you get commercial and free hosting with the trial.

I think ClickFunnels still has 30-Days FREE as well...

It's all a matter of preference and your future planning, you can use 100% FREE tools, but as you grow you may find paid hosting, cloud, etc. more functional and expandable systems and services.

The other post is gone it was actually someone's signature - so I don't have the authority to pass that link on to you.

But yeah, I didn't mean to overwhelm... but DropBox, a Word Docs, a FREE PDF creator... you could manage on a free WordPress set up or even like free Blogger if you are driving traffic to the offering... share the URL - put a direct link to the DropBox download - so they can gain access to your PDF file and viola'.

    Good Luck. Rock-N-Roll, Man!

no need to over complicate this. Any hosting with a website and all you need to do is access the backend create a folder and add files to that folder, in your case a pdf so you would either put a link on your site or send your visitor the link via email. it would look something like this www(dot)yoursite(dot)com/foldername/file.pdf

you can use tracking links or something like prettylinks if you like

      Thanks for reply.

I could only speak of my experience and via exploring several free options there did not seem to have the ability to put anything but text or photos on the sites.

In fact one of the major players (I am not mentioning names as I do not want anyone to think I am attempting to plug or criticize a webhosting service) mentioned that if you do not go for the paid version you can not upload audio/video/files on the site even if you did not want them to be downloaded (which I do).

Obviously the paid services give great flexibility. I have knowledge of this when I was promoting the Rock And Roll books I had written and built a site from scratch with audio/video/text/photo/files.

The idea here was to try something with no cost as an experiment.

Thank you again for replying and be well,

What exactly are you trying to do? You are mentioning webhosting and free website builders as if they are one and the same. Generally, they are not.

For example, WordPress along with a good theme can build websites but the hosting is generally totally separate.

Without knowing exactly what you are trying to do with what where it's hard to recommend anything. But I'd say if there was a host or website builder that wouldn't let you upload a PDF file you may want to consider other options.

Simply mentioning a website builder or webhost that you don't own or control or profit from isn't considered pushing or promoting normally. Especially for someone with over 800 posts who has been here for a few years. Where it turns into promotion is if there is repeated posting, sneaky links, promotional links, etc.

    Hi Mark:

    Thanks for the reply.

Did not mean to mix up terminology.

What I want to do is different than in the past. When I built the site I had promoted for about 10 years it was to get the word out on the Rock & Roll Books, podcast, speaking course, liner notes written for CD's, and lectures I was a part of. The site was fully robust with daily updates, text, audio, video, photos, and files that could be downloaded, as well as email for contact.

The post here from a few days back was to see if something the method and suggestion I saw in a video could be tried for free as it may not work or be worth it many times over. It is a crapshoot at this point.

It would be to promote a product or service and to use a niche that is not something common in most eyes. In doing so one of the steps is to have a website with PDF files that can easily be downloaded. They would contain affiliate links. To be approved to the marketplace (The niche version of ClickBank) they want a website as one of the steps for not being turned down.

The reason I wanted to go (if there is) with a Free website builder is this is a pure experiment. This is the total converse to the promotion of the books, etc. where it was a lifechanging event and the last six months of the preparation worked 12 hours a day for seven days a week and never felt anything but joy.

If this is something that is doable, I am always willing to put 10000 percent into a project but want to get a feeling first.

Thank you for being kind enough to post on the thread and have the best of spring,

Okay I understand better now. What about trying a free account on Wordpress.com and see if that would meet your needs? It would only take a few minutes before you knew for sure.

    Hi Mark:

Thanks for cool suggestion. I will see if it has the PDF Upload/Download availability function.

They want you to register for the account and will do so after typing response to you.

Thanks again for great insight and and knowledge and the way you conduct yourself on the forum.

    All the best,

You can always upload your PDF file to a free hosting site like Mega.io, then use a free site builder like Wix to host the link.

What i'm saying is... create a free website in Wix, put an image of the PDF ebook on the webpage, then link your ebook image to the Mega.io file... and then you will have a PDF file on a free site builder that people can download without having to give their email info.

      Hi Randall:

      Thanks for the information.

It seems that would be an option as would using any website builder and having a link where somebody would download via Dropbox (as suggested by a Warrior a few days ago).

Interestingly enough, Google Sites is free and would allow the PDF file for download. I fooled around with it last night and you can upload a PDF via Google Drive and it can be downloaded by anyone (if you grant permission in Google Drive) but you can not place a text file or Word Document on the Google Sites.

Thanks again and you and family be well and safe,

    Hi WF-Enzo:

To clarify what I said you can:
Create a free Google Sites page(s)
Use Google Drive to upload the PDF Document.
Place the PDF Documents on the newly created site page
Insert affiliate link if you desire
    Click Publish
Copy the link you are given to the page
    Share as you please

The person seeing the link can download the file and at that time with a PDF Editor or PDF to Word Converter, edit the document if they desire.

Have a great and safe day,

Weebly allows you to upload and link to PDF files. You can add the files to your site by using the "File" element.

Well, Wix is a popular free website builder that allows you to upload PDF files to your site. WordPress.com is another builder that uses the WordPress content management system.
