Creating a local food marketplace

Hi, I have the idea of creating a local marketplace for people to buy and sell locally grown foods, wild berries, and mushrooms.

But I need some suggestions on how to monetize the website. I have the idea but I don't know how to make money from the website, all I got is to charge transaction fees, but it feels like if I do that, people won't use the platform.

Please suggest some ideas, thank you!

Become an affiliate. Sell pots and pans and cook books.

Sell ad space to chiropractors and roofers and other local businesses.

Why would they not use the site if they were charged a fee. Most local farmers set up at farmers markets....they are charged a fee. They go to local flea markets, they are charged a fee. They put food on consignment at small local grocers and natural food stores and guess what? they are charged a fee.

Just remember if this is a local site I would be more worried that customers would not shop if they had to pay a shipping fee, or the vendor had to absorb those fees

You could run adsense, sell ad space, become an affiliate for complimentary products. People would use the site if you charged transaction fees. Food4all.com follows this model.
