Website traffic ideas, help?

Hey Everyone,

I've been growing my online store, and I'm completely stuck right now and can't get any sales. However, last year around the same time, I was selling great and great I mean, there were months when the store generated thousands of orders daily and revenue hit over $120k/month, BUT this year the sales dropped significantly!

My primary traffic source was Facebook and my in-house affiliate program. On Facebook, I was advertising my products on groups and pages + I have over 50 affiliates that helped me spread the word about my product and deals. Earlier this year, most of the pages/groups that were generated constant traffic and sales - stopped working this year altogether.
Not just 1 or 2 Facebook pages stopped driving traffic, but I'm talking about over 10-15 large FB pages/groups that have huge followers with a total of over 5M followers and they can't get any sales anymore... something isn't right with Facebook or my strategies, and I need someone help here.

Briefly about my business:
Niche: Beauty
Average product price: $50-$70
Shipping from the US, 2-3 days with USPS.

Any thoughts or ideas are welcome!
Thanks!

Did you change anything about your business or marketing sequence in the past year? Have you considered Google Ads or advertising on Amazon Ads?

I would suggest keeping up with your facebook endeavors and add Instagram... I am going to think you are using a facebook store? you can easily in a matter of minutes replicate your facebook store over to instagram basically magnifying your overall reach.

I think as a business owner, it's time for you to specifically analyze per channel, one by one, what's working and what's not working.

Replacing what's not working with what's working.
    That's the overall plan.

About your fb page/group, I think you can't generalize it because fb treats those 2 differently. It's a different ball game, bro.

Create videos about your products. Start a vlog and upload those videos, to Youtube and other video sites, adding a link to your store in the video description.

You can also have a few PDF ebooks written, and give them away. Each ebook will have a link to your store in the footer of every page. Add your links throughout the ebook. The ebook must be beauty-related. Related to your niche, addressing the concerns, and interests of your customer base. Are there any problems that your customers need to solve? Ask yourself, what are the "pain points" that your customers are dealing with, then introduce the solution in your e-books, with links to your products.

Build an email list, using those e-books.

Either you've made changes to how you do things or FaceBook made changes to how they do things.

I have not heard of FaceBook making changes to groups, but some other change might indirectly affect groups.

In any case, I second Savidge's idea about Instagram and suggest Pinterest might help.

    Here's a list of FaceBook changes: https://adespresso.com/blog/top-upda...need-know-now/.

Why would someone take the time to post asking for help/advice - leave 10 minutes later and not log in again to READ the replies?

thats crazy, it seems like you changed something about your marketing efforts.

or maybe a competitor appeared who sold the same products way cheaper?

anyway if nothing like that happened you should probably try a different platform than fb. I mean you had success once, you know how and what to do so you can replicate that. Just do it again! Good Luck

  • 5 million followers and you can't get any sales any more...

Are the products that you're promoting to these 5 million followers still congruent with these 5 MILLION FOLLOWERS Surely atleast 1% (50000) of them should have converted to sales if what you are promoting is still relevant/congruent with your 5 million followers

Perhaps you should change/update your product line to stimulate and encourage your following to buy what you are offering.

On facebook stuff gets buried real fast you have to be on it constantly. Yep your traffic will just disappear. BUt our etsy store is picking up a little now. Start to build something else traffic wise besides fb. you gotta just expand and be on top of everything you put out there. The web is not like always there driving if you're letting it go its going believe me. Most of what I've done over the years is now gone. Why? Because I just let it sit there. Don't think you can stop with traffic related work.

Think like a customer. They usually go to websites because they need to solve a problem. Remember what problem your site solves. Create content that solves that problem.

It is very sad that it happened to you suddenly. I think your customers are seeking the same product, see if your product has any errors, then if there is no work then you can change your strategy and promoting platform.

I dont think you will see the same sales year after year using the same strategies. Especially in social groups and pages, they would have to double in size every year for new unique views and customers.

There is a point were you peak and reach your audience with advertising. Less sales doesn't mean more advertising. You should have multiple email lists over the course of this time. This is were you sustain your sales, through email marketing. You should already have potential buyers and returning customers in your pocket.

Now its time to find that sweet spot with advertising, where you are not wasting money and focus on what you already have, your email lists.

    A few ideas:

    - set aside 4-5 hours to research, write and publish an SEO-optimized, long form posts about the beauty industry to drive highly-targeted, passive Google traffic
    - blogging successfully requires persistent, patient work but the laser-targeted traffic and profits you want to grow are waiting for you through the 5.4 billion Google searches daily; drilling down would reveal a staggering number of beauty searches, as would be expected
    - comment genuinely on beauty blogs; co-promoting opportunities await as you build your friend network
    - consider other ways through which you can help people for free to gain skills, exposure, credibility, and to indirectly grow your business.

The number of Instagram subscribers is growing by the second. It would be reckless not to use such a "live" platform in the interests of their business, given that the largest social networks have long and more than successfully been used to promote brands. Developed strategies, techniques, established a real industry SMM-services. Perhaps it is time to look at the possibilities of Instagram through the eyes of social media specialists, because it has long been not one of the billions of applications, but a social network, capable, like others, of becoming a powerful marketing channel for brands. Developed social media pages can help you find your audience, sell your services and products and, of course, get lots of feedback on everything you plan to do online. In any case, developing social media pages can make a big difference in your advertising opportunities and your online life in general.

Pinterest should be a good platform as you are in the beauty niche and its audience is predominantly female. It is used as a search engine by visitors and sales are quite high in relation to other social media.

Other ideas include YouTube Ads which would be cheaper than most competitors.
TikTok and LinkedIn get a lot of traffic and could be considerd.

Always get sign ups to your email list regardless of whatever strategy you use.
