Seo for targeting neighbouring cities

Hi,

I have 2 part question.

First, I am making a website for this business. This business has got a physical location in one city, say city1. The other city, say city 2 is just 15 minutes ride from their physical location/city1. They are in a very comfortable position to serve customers from this city2. City 2 infact is a much larger city and more important business area for them.

Now they dont have a physical location in city 2. How do I go about designing the website & optimising it so that it does target both the cities. It would be a shame to not reach customers that are so nearby.

My second question is , I am thinking of creating 2 different location pages for each city, targeting each city, but what do I target in my homepage? We have already made a very impressive and info rich homepage, how can we make it the landing page for our customers?

    You have to do local SEO for your website. Did you complete your on SEO yet?

      I have done the keyword research for the website. But, have not implemented any seo as of now. As I am still trying to figure out the best way to optimize for both locations.

    Get a location in the second city.


    Get lots of citations, for each location.


    Have a page Service/Product in City 1, Service/Product in City 2 (so people in City one get the info about location 1 and those in 2 get the infor about location 2.


    Take a look at large pizza companies, for instance. This is a what came up for one such company: https://locations.pizzahut.com/nv for their Nevada locations. Click on some of the pages.

      Yes, getting the second location would be the ideal solution. But, I am trying to find other ways in case getting second location is not feasible.

      Yes, checked the pizza website. Can definitely do something like that.

      Do you have any suggestions for homepage targeting for such a website? Thanks for your inputs.

    I have some experience in local businesses.

    First I would make sure their business is listed with Google, both #1 & #2 even if #2 is not physical anymore.

    Second, without looking at your webpage, etc, make sure you have a funnel set up with problem-solution-benefit - not necessarily in that order, ask a copywriter how it should be laid out.

    Keeping the end in mind, you want your customers to now get an online presence and sell their stuff via the online store.

        I would do a google search to make sure but here is what I found: https://www.google.com/business/faq/ and find the section that says "My business doesn't have a storefront. Can I still have a Business Profile?"

        Again I don't know what business they have but if they were physical, and one still is, you should be able to add this to their portfolio of services you offer them.

    Yes, I am aware of this. They can register as Service area business. But, that wouldn't be as helpful as the physical business listing. Thanks for your inputs. Appreciate it.

    Quote the people you're responding to, it makes for an easier conversation.


    Local happens in the map. You want to be in the top 3 there. For that to happen at City 2, you need a physical address there, or a lot of SEO (citations). For local, citations is the way to go.

    This really isnt a "SEO" build pages for your website kind of issue. Dont get me wrong.. that "Helps", but is not the best solution over all.

    You need to be working on the "Google Business Profile". From there you will be able to set service areas by either an area based on the physical location ( location 1 ) of say 50 miles, that covers location 2. OR you can set your coverage area based apon zip codes IE 90210 and 90211 and 90212 etc

    When you start looking at the Google Business Profile there are some things you might need to brush up on... its SEO but not - and once you get into it a bit you will understand.
