Do you use Wordpress for sales sites?

I actually use WordPress for everything!

Not only do I use it for my sales pages and squeeze pages, but I also use it for my membership sites to deliver the products.

I would say the biggest obstacle when it comes to using WordPress for a sales page or a squeeze page is you need to either know coding very well, or have the means to hire out the template development.

But, my suggestion would be to get a generic template made that you can use over and over again.

That is what I do generally. I will have a fantastic looking video squeeze page template made and use that for all of my squeeze pages.

Then, I'll have a a generic sales page template made and use that for all of my sales pages.

I do set up new domains for each one of my sites. That is just because they are all different products.

As of right now I am having a master site developed that is going to encompass all of my products and a blog as well. The whole thing is going to run on a WordPress platform.

It is truly an amazing system and easy to work with once you learn it.

Wordpress can be fiddly for sales page sites as Shannon stated if you don't know coding.

There are some free sales page themes around.

Usually I create a html sales page as the index page and link to a blog in a sub directory yourdomain.com/blog/ at the bottom of the page. This can also help with quality score if you use adwords to drive traffic to the sales page.

Thanks guys. So people are basically paying a hosting fee for each wordpress installation then - $50 + a year each time it seems?

I know that hosted wordpress.com or other blog sites such as blogsome.com frown on wordpress "sales" sites, so it really does come down to hosting your own at a cost?

For blog style web sites wordpress is good, however I find that Joomla is much more powerful for building bigger sites. Look into Joomla and see if you like it.

I'm launching a site with hundreds of landing pages, will be updating it with some specific sales page style designs here soon but if you're building a site around CPA or Clickbank offers, check out the site in my signature.

I've tried using Wordpress for a sales page, but it didn't give me enough flexibility... and also Wordpress breaks any Javascript scripts you want to run.

Personally, I just find it easier to use a HTML template, and edit it using a HTML editor like Kompozer. This gives me much more flexibility than Wordpress. I can split test, use Javascript, edit the size of a page or do anything else I want... which would be much more fiddly with Wordpress.

So for me, Wordpress is great for blogs, but a standard HTML page is easier for sales pages... especially if you want to do more advanced things like split testing, Javascript counters etc.

As for the cost of hosting, it doesn't matter whether you're going to use Wordpress or not. For my sites, I pay for a hosting package, and then have addon (or "virtual") domains where I just pay for the domain name itself. You don't need a hosting package for each new site, unless you're planning to get server-busting amounts of traffic to each site.
