SEO, social media, online marketing question.

Hey Everyone,

I own a Construction company which i am looking to grow and expand. I also am a real-estate investor and have a Real Estate investment podcast. The end goal with all my investment content is to teach others how to invest in real estate. However, there is a lot of crossover with the construction side as we do a lot of construction on our own buildings. Do you think it is wise to brand these completely separate. Or can I drive traffic through my construction site via my Real Estate investment content/instagram as well?

I'd keep them separate. It's two different audiences.

What if they're not stars? What if they are holes poked in the top of a container so we can breath?

As much as I normally agree with Claude... I might have to disagree here a bit.

When you are buying to invest... more often than not you have to work on the house... the construction side of this actually builds apon your authority - from both sides.

If we look at someone like Meet Kevin on youtube, he is a real estate investor, at that just so happens to sell a course on how to do remodels.

Its part of the game... buy a house cheap.. do the RIGHT renovations and make a profit either through rental or selling.

I personally invest in real estate, and I personally have a "construction company" they simply go hand in hand ( at scale )

I see absolutely no reason to keep them separate.

The flip side of this ( nice pun there ) is with the construction side of this you are building authority and can document how your work increases a homes value... I bought for this, we went in and did this and that and the other.. and the house sold for X.

When not on my own projects this is exactly what we are doing is navigating clients around renovations that obviously add function to their homes, but pointing out renovations that add value.

I would think of it this way... your construction company is probably NOT building new homes - you are remodeling... and with the real estate aspect you by default have niched yourself and probably didnt know it. I would suggest niching further... and being the construction company that specializes in - construction as an in investment - vs building dreams

      Hope that Helps!

Yes it is possible to merge depending on the kind of lead you wanted to create. It's completely your choice, I.e. If you think you are going to target the working class or Only the Rich business class of people.

    Separate as Claude said...

however, there's no reason your podcast can't be sponsored by (your construction company).

Or ads from (your construction company).

Ads as you know can be creative. A daily tip. A quick how-to from your sponsor.

    Just an idea

Exactly, cross-marketing but no merge. I recommend you Jay Abraham on this, he gives dozens of examples of creative ideas in his free material that you can apply to your businesses to empower them...Maybe you can apply some of these ideas to your case

@Savidge4 - I sort of understand what you're saying and it makes sense...but it also seems a little muddy in my mind.

We've all seen the shows on T.V. where people are flipping houses...in every case I can think of they own their own construction business.

Now, what makes me wonder is...is the podcast for new people who are flipping houses for a profit...and they decide we need to update the kitchen and bathroom, and give it some curb appeal...and for that we'll need to hire a contractor? Or, are they people who are investing with all this in place?

As you know, there are also investors that invest through companies, etc., that never touch the property.

I guess I would want to know more about the podcast.

I've mentioned before on here about owning several rental units, but we have maintenance, and the bigger jobs are contracted out with contractual agreements.

I understand your view is to talk about investing and offering to do the remodel himself. My thought is most of those investing already have people in place to do this...

which is why I thought simply sponsoring or advertising was appropriate.

So, is the podcast for brand new investors? I don't know.

You bring up some good points though...and like I said, it makes me cross think things

In my mind.. this all has to do with an Authority play. I have friends that build new homes... thats pretty much all they do, with the exception of maybe finishing a basement during winter months... but the exception is seasonal at best - you wont get those crews in to remodel a home in June as an example.

You then have companies that "remodel" and those with the hands off approach ( just sub it all out ) these guys are not going to be a fit - they will have designers and plans and blah blah blah

There is then a subset where people may want to be involved in the flip... or better yet are seeking advice as to how much work should be done for a flip. Do you replace cabinets ( I see this all the time ) or do you re-finish. Do you pull our showers and tubs or do you re-finish - and I will bet there are many reading this that might not even know you could do that.

There are places you can absolutely cut corners if you will.. for more important things like new roofs - and bullet proof flooring ( in the case of a flip to rental property )

Its the real estate investor that also just so happens to have a construction business that fits this very specific... and growing niche.

You a real estate investor, are you going to hire just any builder OR are you going to hire a contractor that is experienced in property flipping? I am a bit more than suggesting its the later - if the later is an option.

With the Authority self baked in.. this just requires positioning. A National podcast with X listeners... and we service this geographical area with real estate investment construction services to include X, Y, and Z.

At the same time the podcast can white paper before and afters of the work the construction company has done and as stated earlier offer up a course like Meet Kevin ( really is a solid course btw ) to reach those not within your construction business geographic reach.

I am sure I have said this before BRAND BRAND BRAND... Nike made shoes.. they didnt change BRAND name to make golf clubs or clothing or soccer balls.

A unified single brand even across multiple service will beat out separate services interlinked by ads across platforms.

<insert name> podcast and <insert same name> construction will present itself far better over all platforms be it social or search when someone is searching for you - and the Authority can only compound. Oh they do this and that... AND they have a podcast... or Oh they have a podcast AND they operate a construction company specializing in real estate investment related construction. OH they have a course on how I can do this too.

      My take on it anyways
