Why Do I have to Post to do things? ITS SO UNFAIR!

*whine whine whine, bitch bitch bitch*

Hey all, I just wanted to rant about complaints I've seen off an on since I've been back here this week. Follow along, rant yourself, or call me out! Lets have some fun.
--------------------------

Why do I have to do 50 posts to do things?

--------------------------

HEAVEN FORBID WE'D LIKE TO SEE IF YOU HAVE ANYTHING IMPORTANT TO SAY!!

Sounds bad, but hell. We're here to work, create, grow, and spammers, bitchers, whiners, moaners, and the like are a real downer and don't contribute a damn thing. They waste space.

The whole point of this forum is to LEARN. You don't need to post to learn, do you? Unless you have a question. Questions rock. We're the kind of folks here who will answer your questions and be happy to do so. We want you to learn. We want you to grow. I'll be the sap here and say we're a BIG FAMILY.

And if you whine, bitch and moan, and need your ass kicked verbally, YOU'LL GET IT! We're that kind of family. I'm sure some of these members remember how I had my little whining spell last year, I had all kinds of folks kicking my ass verbally. I needed it. I'm not afraid to admit it.

Hell! I bet Paul Myers, Steven Wagenheim (sorry if I spelled it wrong Steve!), Dana Willhoit, Big Mike, and even Allen himself have needed a good, swift verbal asskicking in their careers in IM. There are times that anyone and everyone can have every setback happen and they may want to just give up, its human to do so. Gather some friends to you who will kick your ass verbally if you need it.

---------------------

When will I see the money? I've been doing this for a few days! I need money now!!

---------------------

Let me be clear with you on several things my warrior brethren.

1.) The likelihood of you making that exclaimed "$1500 OVERNIGHT!" is almost nil if you don't have a decent plan in place, and have traffic, people finding your stuff, etc.

2.) Time is relative. I've been working on this stuff off and on for six years. SIX YEARS. You may fail a hundred times before finding what works for you. Because I don't care what everyone says, what these products say, IT WILL NOT WORK FOR EVERYONE. A technique that worked for 20 people may have well worked for them, but there is no guarantee it will work for you. I'm sorry to say.

3.) Give yourself time to find what works for you. You know what this stress stuff does? It makes it harder to work, and makes it even harder for your work to be great. You need your $20,000 mortgage paid by tomorrow noon? It will be very, very difficult for you. Sorry. Advice I can give in that situation would be ask and see if you can put it off.

-------------------------

How will I know what works for me?

-------------------------

Well, thats a good question actually. The only way to really know, is to try one thing, give it your all. ONE THING AT A TIME!!

That was a mistake I've made a few times in the past, I tried running two websites, making three products, affiliate marketing, article marketing, SEO, etc etc etc. You will burn yourself out so fast if you put energy into a thousand things at once.

One thing at a time. If you need a website, a product, and articles written, work on one, then the other, then the other. Or maybe if you're a multi-tasker it can work for you, but it certainly didn't work for me.

------------------

Why do I have to accept the rules here or leave?

------------------

No shirt, no shoes, no service.

I think that explains that.

------------------

I have no clue what I'm doing.

------------------

May I say something?

Congrats, and good luck. By not knowing anything you have an undoubtedly clearer mind than a few jumbleheads like myself. But at the same time, you don't have years of experience and knowledge telling you what can and can't be a good move.

IF this is you, stick to your guns friends, and just get things done.

------------------

I don't want to spend money! I'm here to make it!

------------------

Well, how nice for you. Sorry to break it to you, but the best information on how to do this will have to be bought. Even if its just $37 to get into the War Room. Its not a lot, and its been more than worth it in the knowledge I've gleaned from it.

And personally, over the six years I've been trying this, I've spent thousands finding out what works, what didn't, what had good info, and what didn't. Trial and error. I don't regret any of the money gone. It has helped me in one way or another.

Not to say it couldn't be done for free, but hell if you don't eventually pay for something, some membership somewhere, hosting, domain name, etc.

I think that's the end of it. Let me know if I forgot anything my friends! And I don't mean to be overly harsh, but hell if some people don't need it.

Needed to get all this off my chest.

Have a wonderful week, night, day, time!

-Sean

Simply put, due to the caliber of information available in this community, we have requirements for full membership. It's only fair. If we didn't have these, we would have really bad broken English posts all over the place like DP.

haha I just came here to whine about the title, because I thought it was another new member complaining again...

I guess it's a psychological chain, that one person sees it and thinks "yeh, I feel that exact way", and decides it's ok for them to rant and complain about the same thing too, when suddenly there is an overload of whining and useless posts that don't contribute to the MARKETING aspect of this forum.

I don't think the rules say you have to make 50 important posts. 50 whining, bitching, or clueless posts unlock the same forum options as 50 important ones.

This is one of my favorites. They don't want to buy things from others to solve a problem, but they want a business where others buy things from them to solve a problem.

If that is SO true, go ahead, make 50 of these SAME POSTS, and tell me you won't receive any infractions or bans within this period of time.

This is not something that is overly tolerated here, eventually people grow sick of it. Who wants to hear people whining about the rules of this forum?

I came here to hear marketing tips and strategies, not complaining, and since you seem to think it increases post count, and don't mind the complaining, I'll be sure to drop tons of complaints your way in the future, whenever I need a listening ear.

Hmm, because it would be too hard to ask real questions or give real feedback. And i'm not talking about some stupid question that anyone can google and get teh answer to.

How hard is it to actually contribute to the forum and participate? Isn't that why you're here?

Oh wait... people want all the benefits without having to do SQUAT. Ya, that attitude won't really help you make it in IMing either... :p

The reason we want posts is to see what you put in them. If you're an idiot or a scammer, you're going to screw up and get banned.

It's okay if you're new. We don't mind new. New, we can help. If your fifty posts are "hey, I don't understand, how do I learn more?" - you end up smarter! And by the time you get fifty posts along those lines, you're pretty smart.

            See how it works?

Because this is the free area of the forum. Sad to say, there is a lot of good information here, but you're really going to have to look for it now. I used to have links to all the really good threads, I need to find where they are.

Seriously, report them. If you're wrong, it will be ignored, and no harm done. If you're not, it will be handled, and that benefits everyone here. The fact that you're not prone to complaining about every little thing makes it seem likely that you'll only report things that actually deserve attention. That's a Good Thing.

Exactly. The Mods need some target practice
                once in a while.

Nah. Just more targets. We know how to hit them.

They're getting plenty of targets from me. Sometimes I think I report so many, they're just going to start going "oh, it's HER again...geesh"...lol.

I have one small thing to say in defense of this "complaint": There are so many experts on here, and so much knowledge on the forum already, a newbie might find it a little bit intimidating to contribute. Its hard for a newbie to 'give' something to a forum which already has so much knowledge freely available, and so many experts willing to give it. People new to IM often just need to learn, and they can do a lot of that simply through reading. It can be hard for them to contribute if they don't actually know much about IM. Obviously their knowledge of the offline world can sometimes be of a great help, but they may not even realize this!

Of course they can always ask questions in order to get their post count up, but people may be a little shy of doing this in case they are perceived as just 'taking' from the forum rather than 'giving'.

I'm not saying the 50 post limit for sending PMs should be reduced or removed, I'm just pointing out why it can be hard for a newbie to get to 50 posts without just 'taking' from the forum.

Anyway, any newbies reading this, I urge you not to be TOO intimidated to post, and recognize that you probably DO have something to contribute; we've all led lives offline and this knowledge can also be useful online.

People who want to get to 50 posts so they can send a PM detailing their viagra pill JV involving their freshly-purchased list of 3 billion email addresses need not apply

It's also no guarantee that it will work forever, even if it does work for you. That ultra-effective, back-door, killer SEO tip is one algorithm tweak away from being worthless. When it quits working, you learn something else that works for you.

Without getting all "Lion King" on y'all, it's the circle of life thing...

I wasn't going to reply to this thread but since the OP got my name spelled
right I figured it was the least I could do. Oh, and Paul, the only reason he
got my name spelled right is because he's freaking seen it 13,000 times.
Even a monkey could spell my name right after that much exposure.

Seriously, this whole thread, IMO, is one of the biggest ironies of this
        whole forum.

We can't stand the bitching, whining, moaning and complaining about the
rules, so we bitch and whine and moan and complain about the people who
do the bitching, whining, moaning and complaining.

And yeah, I understand the reason behind it...to maybe wake these people
up and get them to behave like a valuable member of the community.

But the people doing the bitching, whining, moaning and complaining,
aren't going to read the thread in the first place, OR if they do, will do
        one of two things.

        1. Ignore the advice
        2. Bitch, whine, moan and complain about it.

The rest of the folks, well, you're preaching to the choir. We already get
        it.

Sure, there will be some exceptions, me for one. And yes, I needed my
fair share of ass kickings from here and a lot of other places. Trust me,
I am no poster boy for forum behavior. But I've come a long way and
        hopefully, I'll improve even more.

But these threads, IMO, are about as pointless as me telling my wife
that she really does look good in that string bikini. There's a certain
age that you just don't go walking around in those things. Hopefully, you
have enough sense to realize that.

Most of the people who need the info in this thread either don't have
        the sense or don't care.

The rest of us are all just nodding our heads in agreement. And personally,
I don't need the extra exercise. But like I said, I responded to this thread
because the OP got my name spelled right.

I figured it was the least I could do.

Steve, have you ever been to a Florida beach during the height of the tourist season?

Men who should never wear Speedos always do. Women who should wear one-piece bathing suits never do.
