There's like no single best platform, because it really depends on your preference and needs.

Do you just want to blog or are you looking to turn you blog into something bigger in future?

You future plans will determine which system is best.

The advantage of Wordpress, IMO, is the amount of plugins available. Whatever you want to turn your blog into, you can generally do it with WP. Features like Ecommerce are just an "installation" away.

However if all you want to do is blog, honestly almost every system work equally well. So you're best to just go with what is most affordable.

    Best wishes,

  • I use Duda.co and their platform is drag and drop. Phenomenal. I can tell they take high quality in their work and also offer plugins that you can integrate into your website.

    I use WordPress myself.

Correct me if I am wrong but Wix is more like a free site type service right? Rented space? So, if they decide to close or suspend you (which they probably outline in their terms), you lose everything, right?

Again, correct me if I am wrong.

I use WordPress software so that the database is mine to backup.

    That's my opinion at least.

  • Try it out for yourself instead of reading a lot of other people's opinions.

Install WP and then get a Wix account. Test them out.

There is no "best" for everyone, it all depends on what you need. By testing things out with your content, knowledge, etc. you'll get a better answer.

Good luck. You better hurry up because 2022 is about up.

Edit: I have used WP for years. It works just fine for me but may not for someone else with different needs.

It's been a while since I dealt with Wix, but back then, you couldn't look under the hood, do all SEO-required things.

Wordpress, on the other hand, let you (still does).

I myself prefer WP. There are so many plugins and customizable options. Its also cheaper than paying monthly for a different platform. It adds up quick especially when you start adding paid plugins ontop of it.

I have tried Weebly in the past and liked it. Very easy to use. And, if you get the first paid level of service which is $6.00 per month if paid yearly, with this level of service you can use your own domain.

Depending on your long-term intentions, it might not be an issue, but one thing to bear in mind with the all-in-one, drag and drop platforms like Wix and Weebly is that you're at a disadvantage if you ever want to sell your blog as part of a business deal or exit strategy down the line.
