Google, Apple, Meta, Amazon, and Microsoft will collab to improve voice recognition

Google announced its participation in the Voice Accessibility Project to assist in the development of sophisticated speech recognition systems that can meet the demands of persons with impaired speech.

Speech recognition is used to browse websites, translate speech, use voice assistants, and operate equipment.

However, voice activated devices and services might be difficult to use if a user's speech pattern is impacted by Lou Gehrig's illness, Parkinson's disease, or Down Syndrome, among other things.

The initiative attempts to alter that by bringing together five technological companies that can collaborate to address the difficulty of making voice recognition function for persons with non-standard speech patterns.

The initiative will begin with English and then go on to other languages.
