Advice for a writer on my team

Hello,

I have a writer on my team that's absolutely incredible. He's in need of more work, but I just don't need more content at the moment. Any advice? Wanna keep the guy busy...

"on my team" is what? paid full or part time employee or (more likely) a freelancer you like to use?

Sounds like the writer needs to find more than one 'team' to work for....with a great recommendation from you he could get work on freelance sites, etc. The last two years I was freelancing I worked for three different 'teams'...and that kept me busy (and paid).

He could join this forum and place a 'for hire' ad where you could recommend him for quality/reliability.

Yeah the guy is a freelancer. Not very good at "finding work" though lol.

But - that's his issue. He found work with you so he's capable - but it's easier to let YOU find it for him...

Post an ad on warriroforum and other places on his behalf or act as his manager and get a cut from every job you get him.

Finding him outside work could backfire. If he's that good and you don't have him under contract, there's a risk that someone else will give him more than enough work and/or pay more. He might not be available when you next need him.

Although you say you don't need more content right now, maybe you're missing an opportunity. It wouldn't take much time or effort on your part to come up with some ideas for side projects that require a decent writer. I'm thinking eBooks, reports, even courses - depending on his area of expertise. You wouldn't have to use the products straight away, but you'd have them to promote when you wanted.

Your advantage is you know and trust this writer and like his work. That's a valuable asset you don't want to waste.

  • Have him make more backend products for you. If you refer him to someone else, they may give him unlimited amounts of work with a higher pay rate - thereby diluting the time that he can spend on you. It may inspire him to get off his butt and start looking for more gigs.

Tell him to try his hand at CPA advertising on Facebook if he's that good.

Do you have a mailing list? Get writing jobs from YOUR list, and then hire him to fulfill the orders.

You keep the guy busy, and if you price things right, you make money at this venture as well.

Would he be the type of writer who can write good descriptions on product pages? Particularly for women's clothing? If so I may have an opportunity for him.
