I've got tons of free squidoo lenses on the internet that get free targeted traffic, which then funnels that traffic to my websites. I highly suggest you create a couple of lenses and start promoting your website with Squidoo, as well as HubPages right now!

Hubpages (the website you are no right now) has over 100,000 people in its community ready to visit your hub, if it's valuable enough to the visitor. The most important thing when driving traffic is keyword research! If your keywords are not targeted to people who want what you offer it's not going to be a match anyway. There are a few rules to think about when it comes to keyword research, some of the things include the amount of searches per month, and the competing pages in search engines.

Try to find keywords with 2,000 searches or more per month, obviously, and less than 25,000 competing pages in Google, where few are authority sites on the first page of the search engine you are targeting.

So let's say you have 5,300 searches per month for a keyword, that might get you 0 visitors, unless you are ranked high in Google for that term, so the competition might be "100,000″ in quotes.

That is too much, but if the same keyword had 5,300 searches and only 8,241 competing pages in Google you will more likely rank for that keyword! Understand? Great!

#10 - Press Release Distribution

Press Releases are free to submit on many websites. They can turn out to be a good promotional tool if you have something worthy of a news announcement. Got a new website? Release a press release about your new website, that's simple enough! Try to target your press release to your keywords and submit it to.

    Thanks for sharing. All of these are really great. The only one I no longer like is squidoo. They have become very picky about what they allow on their site. Other then that, this is a really great list.

    You are right about Squidoo. They have become very picky. I think the reason this happened was becaues of over promotion of "bad sites" and also the recent close down of other web 2.0 sites that didn't have certain spam blockers in the way.

    I personally believe the one that has brought me the most traffic + sales (which is what counts at the end of the day) it is definitely videos and YouTube marketing. Those little rascals connect and convert visitors like gangbusters.

      I've always wondered if traffic from videos have a different demographic hopefully more targeted maybe targetted traffic from within a demographic maybe a bit younger ? although these days grandparents are on facebook hooking up with old school friends

    Building up hype, giving out more exposure, writing more content, etc - all these are ways to increase traffic.

    Great list, you really got all the important factors!!

    I also agree, Squidoo started to stink. I had 32 really nice high quality lenses active for a couple of years...and ALL of them got deleted not that long ago, from one day to the other. Avoid if you can.

    Great list dude.

    After Internet marketing for a while you tend to read and relearn the same things as you go along. This list is one of those things for me.

    One thing I'll add here is focus on one traffic generating method at a time.

    You don't want to end up spinning your wheels doing ten things at once. Focus on or two techniques that appeal to you the most and stick with it until you're generating more than enough cash from that tactic.

    Another I'll add here is: Your subscriber list.

    Having your own active list of subscribers can work magic for driving traffic to virtually any website of your choice.

    Great post!!! What software do you recommend for social bookmarking? I did bookmarking demon but it only bookmarked few sites and the rest of them gave errors. I bookmarked the rest of them myself manually. I bookmarked around 94 sites with 100% success rate in total including manual and automatic but when I check the link poularity of my site, I only see6-7 bookmark sites. Does anybody know why?

    All good information chris the problem is how could you possibly do all of that yourself? Me personally I outsource most of this cause I couldn't possibly do all of that and I got into internet marketing to live the lifestyle not so much about the money.

    All pretty basic how ever I honestly think that keyword research should have been the very first thing on that list. You can not go anywhere on the internet with out doing proper research first. So keyword research should be every ones main priority first and for most. Then all the rest will come second nature and you could even leave out a few of the ones mentioned.

    So to those who complain about not getting very much traffic to their sites. First sit down and think of why this might be. Did you first get a good set of keywords. If so then have you been using the other methods to increase your sites ranking and links. If not then get to it and stop asking how to get traffic to your sites. The traffic will come naturally over time but you need to put in the work in order for it to happen.

      Hey great list. I do use a few of these methods but the one that i like the most is not mentioned.

      I have been using Fiverr to get very targeted traffic and make a few bucks at the same time.

      Still testing it out and will let you know on my results.

      So far it has been very targeted compared to alot of other methods i see people using
