Does anyone use ONLY paid traffic exclusively?

I have recently finally learned how to actually use FB ads. I was always intimidated by it before, so it's nice knowing what to do now. I basically built my business organically over the last 6 or 7 years, and then the paid ads were just like turning on the faucet.

I'm in the process of building a second business in a completely different niche. I'm thinking that I'd like to use paid traffic right from the start, but I won't have the same "organic foundation" this time.

I'm just wondering if people often do this successfully? If so, it seems like it would be relatively easy to build multiple income streams in a short amount of time.

I'm wondering what your thoughts on this are?

    Of course marketers build from the getgo with paid traffic. It's faster, it's time effective. You can use free methods, paid methods or a combination. It's up to you to choose what YOU want to use.


    If I'm not mistaken you were advised to use paid traffic long before you tried it. FB isn't the only ad venue but if it's working for you, USE it. It won't take you 6-7 YEARS to build up a second business...that's the good news.

      Yes you are mistaken. I was not "advised" to use paid traffic as if it was some sort of revelation that I have never thought of before. I always knew that I needed to do it, but I didn't know how. After trying to find people to teach me, and trying to pay people to run ads for me (unsuccessfully), I then figured it out how to do it myself. Now I'm doing it.

    If you are talking about getting new customers then a lot of businesses with high capital only use paid traffic, or use it most of the time.

    But for repeat customers I think email marketing is better than FB ads traffic.

    and I have a question... Did you hire someone to run ads or was it simple enough to do it yourself?

      My current business is 100% new customers. I have one primary product that I sell. Using paid ads allows me to get more traffic to my sales page, which in turn results in more sales. I'll be doing the same thing with the second business.

      To answer your other question, I have hired 2 different "Facebook ads experts", both of which were a huge waste of money. Neither of them actually seemed to know what they were doing in marketing. After wasting $2500 on the second person, I ended up just figuring it out myself. It's actually pretty simple. I did use Laurel Portie's $7/month FB ads course to learn from (no affiliation whatsoever). Now I'm running my own ads!

    Well the big dogs in affiliate marketing are with paid traffic .So i think you should move to paid if you have the money .Many people prefer free traffic because they dont have enlough income to use on paid ads as it takes time until you find succes and you need to burn some good money in the process

    Brian, how has your "organic foundation" affected the style of FB ads you've been running? The headline? The text? The landing page?

    You said before that "I just told Facebook to show my ad to people ages 18 - 65+, male or female, in countries that speak English. I then choose "guitar" as the interest."

    If that kind of broad targeting is working for you, there's no reason you can't translate it to other niches.

      Not only is my ad being shown to a ton of people that have already heard of me, or maybe watched my vids on YouTube, but I also have 200+ comments where people are ranting and raving about how happy they are. Talk about testimonials!!

      That is how the organic foundation is helping!

      I'm going to give paid ads a shot with the new business when it's ready to launch regardless, but I do feel that the "organic foundation" definitely plays a huge part in the success of my current ads!

        If you've decided to go with a completely separate niche, that's your business, of course. I just think you might be missing an opportunity to branch out into a niche that overlaps at least a part of your existing market and channel some of that well-earned "organic foundation" love.

          I definitely agree. However I'm super motivated and interested in this new niche. That is the necessary fuel required for me to actually follow through.

          Trying to get into a similar niche doesn't really interest me mucu, so the only motivation would be money. Knowing myself, I don't think that I'd follow through with that as my only motivator!

    I just think if you build your second business organically, you will be able to learn more about your second niche and become more of an expert in that particular niche than if you just used paid traffic. I guess you can learn on your own time without learning by building your site organically. But 6-7 years seems to be a long time. I can't imagine your second niche taking so long since you already learned from your first niche. My first thought is you take some of the fun from building the site organically and run the risk of making your second niche just for money which is not fair for your audience.

      Haha people keep saying "6 to 7 years is such a long time"...

      I was making money after a year. It's just been that long since I've had the business up and running. It has been growing for that amount of time.

      It definitely didn't take that long until I finally started making money. That started happening after about 1 year. I imagine that I could get this second business up and running in less time than that...

      I appreciate the reply, but I just wanted to clarify that point!

    You have gained valuable experience using face book ads so I would continue on doing what you are doing and also use organic methods as well .

    Take advantage of the free traffic coming from the search engines .

    You might want to start a fan page as well .

        Yes people use paid ads all the time exclusively. It frees up your day and gives you more time to enjoy life. I would focus on backend marketing to recoup the cost of getting the customer on the front end, and of course to maximize profits in the future from each customer. I think that's the key to making paid ads work - especially if you backend product is at a significantly high price.

    Many here over the years have stated they dont even bother with organic traffic. I am a big proponent of organic traffic. That being said, I will start off with paid traffic in some cases to allow time for the Organic traffic to kick in.

    SEO works for me, and generally works quickly ( thats not a statement you read often ) and that being said, if you want to start a new project, and dont want to wait for organic traffic I see no issue with starting with and continuing for all that matters with paid traffic. As long as it isnt throwing the project in a negative cash flow situation. how exactly could it be wrong?

    The wonderful thing about getting a grasp of a skill or mastering it, is the ability to replicate that skill regardless of the product or service you are providing.

    I, being the resident serial entrepreneur see absolutely no issue with branching off into other niches - your not replicating the "THING" you are replicating the KNOWLEDGE behind the "THING" I say "Good on ya!!!!"

    There is no right or wrong answer to this question, as it depends on the business. Paid traffic can be a great way to get your website exposure and boost your SEO, but it isn't always the only way to attract paying customers. Some businesses may also use other forms of marketing, such as social media or viral videos. Ultimately, the most successful businesses rely on a mix of different methods to bring in new customers.

    I used to invest heavily into paid ads , but i hated the fact that i had to deal with regulation changes and ad bans and what not .

    I felt it was no longer viable to keep doing paid ads for newer businesses .So , i took a longer and alternative route of list building , This allowed me to keep my own traffic , promote whatever i wanted and not worry about paying for clicks or ads ban .

    I also had to go through the trouble of finding the right email service providers , Mailchimp ,getresponse ,Active campaign are not very affiliate friendly but great for local business promotion .

    Im currently using bulkresponse for cold emailing and affiliate marketing as they are more friendlier with restrictions .

    My recommendation is to build your list or even if you are running ads , put a popup or lead magnet on your page to atleast building your list in some sort of way .

    I think both have their pros and cons. I can't say one is better than the other.

    In my opinion, the best way is to start with brand awareness for your business.

    ... and make them do small commitments.

    Then you use content (organic) to nurture those leads and maximize your ROI over time.

    So you are using a hybrid of paid and organic marketing--which often turns out to be more cost effective than trying to get sales from cold traffic right off the bat.

    I know a lot of entrepreneurs in Ad Agency space who start with only paid traffic -> build emails lists and scale from there. It's great for start -> but eventually need to find something that scales better
