PayPal closing accounts selling Biz Oppps?

Is it true PayPal will close your account for selling business Opportunity material & programmes?
If so is there a way round this draconian measure, such as using another payment processor such as Stripe?
Would this result in lower sales as many people prefer the one-click convenience of PayPal?
Do the likes of Gumroad and Payhip have their own payment processors or do you have to go through PayPal as Warrior+ & JVzoo do?

T.I.A. for any help

    They really only start closing accounts with a lot of refunds or chargebacks.

      Actually not true. I had my Paypal account for years and not a single complaint in all that time. Then one day I had a customer deny a charge. It was for web hosting as I provide hosting at the time. Paypal denied his refund, but still closed down my account.

      There is not rhyme or reason why they do this and they give you no explanation so you do not know how to fix. I now stay away from them for any Bizopp or affiliate progrms.

        I'm in the same boat. Have had my PP account for 20+ years, no refunds or complaints for years, but pretty low volume lately, and they closed me down without giving a reason.

        Now looking into alternatives. Currently checking out Stripe. Any suggestions and recommendations are much appreciated!

    Any biz opp is it risk of a merchant take down.

    Especially the spammy scammy get rich quick styles we see all too much.

    Your best bet is to focus your website on the actual product or service, and make the affiliate program seem almost like an afterthought. When done the right way, this can give you far better odds of keeping you out of trouble, and your payment options going.

    You can still have lead cap pages that speak to affiliates, but the main public facing website and all the pages it links to should be primarily focused on the end product or service you're selling, and not the opp.

    Oh, and obviously you cannot make claims, and you need to follow FTC guidelines. It blows my mind how many times I see people ignore this stuff. It's not rocket science.

    Hello, how is everyone doing?

    Wow, as I am reading Sparky's thread I am glad I read agmccall's thread that they are not closing it to everyone. That would have been something if they did. I use Paypal, but not as much their fees are kind of high, and I like the suggestion of Jim as it's true any merchant can be taken down. Yes focusing on the service and the product itself is the way to go!

    Thanks to everyone who's replied.
    A few well known marketers are offering the chance to be their affiliates for 100% commissions - as long as sales go through my PayPal account & I've noticed their own PayPal sales links don't function.
    Even though they're fairly well respected, I'm concerned about why they want to use my account

      This should be a warning, I would rather get 50% from a respected vendor than 100% from someone who is not.

    I have noticed Paypal to be very random with the closing of accounts. I have had one of my paypal accounts shutdown years ago. i have associates in the same business whose account was untouched and flourishing with incoming payments. I would recommend using a payment processor like Stripe as an alternative. They seem to work well for me and i have had no problems with them. Although i still have a Paypal account...i prefer to only use it if necessary depending on what i am selling and the need of my clients.

    When you start to get tons of refunds and charge backs in a small amount of time that's when you risk getting your account frozen or shutdown.

    i think a lot of programs look good on the front end, but when you get inside the program its not good, and paypal probaly will shut down the business or program.

    they defiantely wont for the programs that do give value, but there is many alterantives to paypal i suppose, but if you do things right in internet marketing you wont have anything to worry about, if you give value to people everybody always wins, thanks for sharing this question it is a very valid one.

    The same query also applies to me. My own product has an extremely low refund rate. PayPal is still prohibited, though. I have no idea why, and I'm still trying to figure out how to run my own training program.

    PayPal is temperamental. It's good to have an account with them in case you need to use it, I would recommend Stripe as a primary payment processor.
