For Those Of You Who Use Articles For Backlinks

I was just told over in another forum that Google usually takes duplicate articles and puts them into its supplemental index.

I was also told that an article or a webpage in the supplemental index receives extremely less backlink value than ones in the main index.

This has made me rethink my strategy of submitting the same article to the top 10 article directories purely for backlinks.

Not sure if this is true or not, so what do you guys think about all this?

    I think this....

    Google

While not all of them are showing in the main index...quite a few are...and if you spread your submissions out over time, there will always be new fresh backlinks showing up...

This has been debated to death on this forum and several others, the Duplicate Content penalty is a myth, and since Jeremy is much quicker than I am, check out his link

I agree - the results of article marketing speak for themselves.

There are, with absolute certainty, SEO benefits to be had from submitting articles.

What you was told is bogus... No they do not list it in no sub index.. You can dominate the entire front page with the same article. I know people hate to hear that but oh well facts are facts...

If you want to learn about article marketing from proven facts and tested by people that know what they are doing then I suggest you read:

  • I heard this, I was told that...

And from what credible source... the rumor mill?

The ONLY people that can accurately answer this question is the Engineers at Google, because the Google Alogrithim is NOT PUBLIC. Everything you "Hear" or "Are Told" or "Read" is SPECULATION.

    Any Google Engineers here?

I have seen in practice the EXACT SAME STORY appear over and over in the Rankings on dozens if not hundreds of sites.

Just look at any Associated Press story that gets released. It can hit 100's of media outlets nearly simultaneously and Google does NOT penalize CNN, USATODAY, YOUR LOCAL NEWSTATION... etc.

Duplicate content gets filtered and ranked. It's that simple. If for some reason that the sites are not considered Authoritative it makes perfect sense for Google to filter the articles appearing on those sites and discard them.

Google is JUST SOFTWARE. It's very rare for a person to look at your site and make a determination on what should be done with the content.
