    OMG that describes me to a "T"!

    The wife, friends and family were constantly second guessing me and told me to get a real job.

    Most people are taught to get good grades in school, go to college and get a good job to pay back the debt you acquired for your tuition and student loans.

    I am sorry but that is just not for me and won't be for my kids either.

    Keep your head down, ignore the noise from those around you and continue to bring checks in amount and frequency that would be the envy of all if you were to share with them (which I don't).

    The day that I start making a lot of money online is both the best and worse day of my life

    friends and family, all of who are pretty computer-stupid would want me to teach them. As my family is some-what poor, I would constantly be asked to "borrow" money, and by borrow they mean give.

    Just making a few hundred dollars online I had to explain the process to several people like it's my obligation to teach them. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind teaching people if I were to make success, but don't question me like crazy with the attitude like I have to teach you.

    People bug the **** out of me when they do that stuff.

    So I'd have to agree with Jason, the best money is money people don't know about.

    Mine finally shut up about it when I took her down for a "walk" by the lake one day a couple years ago. I pointed out a spot to her way out in the middle of the lake. I just pointed. She said, 'What do you see out there? I don't see anything but the water.' I just smiled and said, 'That's where I'm gonna feed you to the fishes.' Then I laughed, of course, and gave her that is-he-joking-or-should-I-be-scared smile. I haven't had any complaints since. Highly recommended.

        I would be a bit suspicious if my husband was spending alot of time on the computer, assuming that he might be looking for sites to find alternative pleasure, or he was online regularly chatting to other women.

        I would be keeping an eye on him.

            i am just starting this whol thing after my hardwood flooring company slowed down due to resesion, so i havn't had a single project in about more than 4 months now, so i though its the least i can do with the free time that i have. i do get those comments from my girlfrined, she basically now ignors this and thinks i am just waisting my time. which to me is better than sitting on my b..all day.
            i am learning al ot from you guys on wf so i hope i can make it work before the funds run out. although i havn't mad much money yet. but i am working hard on it and i hope one day i can show her and every one else that i wasn't just "playing on the internet".

    Nice topic.

    I am unmarried but this problem is not just about wife, even your parents, friends, relatives they all think you are wasting your time on computer, may be playing game, chating, listening songs blah blah. Well finally they stopped talking when last year (@ age of 23) i bought a brand new car with my website name on rear glass :-)

    Today, actually they (my relatives) are preparing there kids to clear there high school and learn what i do (LOL). IM is fun but you need to face struggle from every social element.

      I just heard the same question this morning from my mother...

      I am not married yet, though I hear similar things from my family members, my mother and elder brothers. They haven't seen the real money yet, that's why they keep advising me to get a well paid offline job. I can if I want to.

      But I am not into this, no matter how much the pressure is. I am not listening to them anymore. I am just working on to get to a level that will silence them. And I will no more hear "why don't you get a job" words anymore.

      They argue that no money can be made on the internet, they think that it is a place where you play games and spend time watching videos on youtube or chatting with friends on facebook. Not my mom but my brothers know that youtube or facebook are worth billions, however, they have no clue why.

      I can't tell them all the things related to making money online that I do on the internet, because they wouldn't understand. I am just waiting for the right time to show them the money.

      A final word: Unfortunately, it is nothing to surprise in today's world, that you are nothing even in the eyes of your family if you are not making enough money. And most people measure others by the amount of money they make. It's a pity.

    LOL. With all my respect to you and your wife... but true thing is, women love money too much, and as soon as they see their husbands or friends or anyone making money, they will definitely support them.

    Men bring money, Women are beautiful. Think of it... they complete each other. My friend was telling me yesterday about a movie he saw on Youtube, where the guy comes home and tell his wife that he lost all his money. A few minutes later he didn't find his wife around... He checked all rooms and found her up in the second floor sleeping with two men LOL.

    I really respect women, but for some reason I believe they love our money more than ourselves.

    Like Kevin, I consider myself lucky too.

    It may come as a shock to some of you, but Heather and I enjoy working together. We each have our distinct roles and support each other when we can. We've got nothing to hide from each other and it makes for a great partnership.

    We work in the same office all day and are virtually together 24/7/365. It's all that lovey-dovey, sickly stuff that might repulse some... but we love it.

    Um, there's the understatement of the year. I was turning $30k a month in 2005/2006 doing tile/granite & hardwood floors. Dropped it to $8k in 2007 because I had a nervous breakdown & my health couldn't hack it anymore...fired everyone and kept going on my own...till the end of 2008.

    Want to know how much I made in the entirety of 2009 doing tile/granite & hardood floors? $367.74 and I know plenty of guys in even worse shape.

    Anyway, back on topic....my wife knows we're broke :-)

            There was a saying a while back that a woman in her teens needs a father, a woman in her twenties and thirties needs a lover, a woman in her forties needs a husband and when a woman gets to her fifties she needs investments. How true :rolleyes:...

    I'm not married but people in general used to take my business for a joke. They'd humor me by saying WOW! you run a business online.. that's great!. I could often sense the sarcasm in their voices. Some people would pitch physical business ideas but then would add "Yeah, that's right you don't want to work. " They acted like I needed a job, wasn't working or was merely pulling their leg about my business. Now they all want me to show them how I do it, and teach them how to make money online.

      Ahhh - yes.

      I have been accused of all:
      • I'm cheating on her with another woman online (online girlfriend)
      • I'm surfing porn
      • My computer is more important than she is
      • I don't want to spend time as a family
      • and more...
      I have been at this for some time but never made any 'real' money. A couple months ago I had a talk with myself and said that if I couldn't make any decent money in the next few weeks then I would give it up.

      Over the next two months I brought in about $650. I saved every dime of it in my paypal account. One day, after getting sick of hearing it from her and knowing that I could make some money I decided to get a new netbook and buy all the software I thought I needed to make a this work.

      I also took my little boy out for dinner to playland and bought him anything off the menu (that was huge to him - he could have a 'daddy' burger!).

      I bought my wife a can of paint because she wanted to paint the basement so she could do hair, build clients, and start a business. (oh the irony.)

      One night we got into a huge blowout. She said she was sick of me telling her about my money making scheme and that I needed to quit.

      I then whipped out the netbook, software, and showed the paypal account. The tune changed.

      While she doesn't ask about it, she doesn't bitc..complain when I'm online.

      Now my brother in law from her side of the fam wants me to 'hook him up' with what I know. I gave him the warrior forum url and he has yet to check it out for himself.

    Guys and gals, as you ALL know, doing anything different than what is "expected" in our society will bring criticism.

    First you are crazy
    Then you are lucky
    Finally, only later, do they realize it was smarts and hard work.

    I have a good friend you says, "You can't fix stupid". He's right. People who bug you about your chosen path aren't necessarily "stupid" but they are definitely ignorant, meaning they don't have a clue about this stuff.

    They really should not speak two words about it since they don't know anything. But they do, and they always will.

    A few comebacks involve questions you can ask THEM.

    1) Have you ever done any learning about what business models exist online? If not, why don't you do some homework before you speak to me about this. Unless you are speaking to me to LEARN rather than LECTURE, just go away.

    2) Do you know these 2 names? Seregy Brin, Mark Zuckerberg? If you don't ... you should really be asking yourself if you know anything about the world of making money using the Internet.

    3) What would have to happen for you to understand the difference between messing around and running a business? I clearly understand the difference, and it seems that you do not ... so tell me what you'd need to see to understand?

    Just a few idea ...

    OMG that is hysterical. That is certainly my wife. I can't believe the berating I took before making any money online. Man that tune changed quickly when she saw my Paypal account. Of course I wasn't as smart as Jeremy at that time. Didn't take long for me to wake up to his approach though so now I have gone back to her berating me again because she thinks we're poor. Guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
