Finding content for review posts and articles.

For those who have review sites, I assume you don't personally review every product you write about, do you? If not, how do you get the information for your posts/articles?

This question relates to one of my own sites, which reviews pet services. There are plenty of forum posts out there where people share their experiences, and I'd like to add that information to my site, because it's useful to my readers. I'm only looking for the benefits of a particular service because that's all that's of interest to my readers, so my reviews won't be nasty.

I have been pm'ing the posters, asking if I can use their comments, but very rarely do they reply.

Obviously my reviews aren't defamatory or libellous, but I'm just wondering about the legality/morality/ethics of taking comments from several of these posts, and rewriting them into a general review.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Why don't you copy and paste their comments and then modify them to make them your own. The comments are not the same as an authored article. Just make sure to modify.

To me this would be the same as hand-writing them on paper and changing it up a bit. You're simply using the comments as part of your research for good content.

That's my thoughts, Mark, it's no different to any other sort of research for content, but just wondered if I was missing anything. Thanks for your reply.

      Audrey,

I agree with Mark, take the comments/reviews from others and put your spin on them. Change them up and make them more positive or negative as required.

      Good luck,

      Michael
