Anyone care to let us know what tool you use to determine what keywords they are bidding?

    Hi

The tool I use is Keyword Elite you can just plug in the phrases you want it to look at and it brings back if anyone is advertising Clickbank products.

Think it just works with Clickbank affiliates.

    Here is the site:

    Affliate Link: Keyword Elite

    Normal Link: Keyword Elite

    Hope this helps!

I was hoping to give it just my competitors web address and then have it come back with every keyword they bid on and what ads they use.

I know keyword spy does that but I have checked and their data they return is not even accurate..

Actually the info they give is limited unless you subscribe at $12 for 3 days which is cheap so i signed up

I then downloaded xls of my competitors keywords he is bidding on to find that most of the results dont see accurate..

Like hes bidding on the keyword but its not in 9th position its in 4th

So how dated are these results?

      How much is spyfu?

It prompts you to subscribe, but doesn't indicate what the price will be prior to subscribing.

Spyfu is awesome, and will do exactly what your wanting to do and even more.... you might want to check it out, I think they have a trial even or a free version still... I haven't used it in awhile so dont really remember, but when i did use it I can tell you it was pretty dang good and from what I could tell from a few test we run it was pretty on the spot accurate!

Heres how I spy on what keywords competitors are using on there site

Go to the competitor site and on your browser tool bar click on view

Then click on view page source

then you can look through the notepad and see what keywords and descriptions they are targeting

Ispionage is another one you can take a look at - it's great to research ads.

I use a two step approach:

    1) Use a service like SpyFu or KeywordSpy to get lists of your competitor's keywords.

    2) Use Project #5 in Keyword Elite to confirm they are actually bidding on the keywords found in SpyFu and Keyword Spy:

Using this approach you won't get every keyword they are bidding on (but honestly no tool can) but you do get an accurate list of keywords they are actually bidding on.

The thing with tools like SpyFu and Keyword Spy is that they don't update all keywords in real time so the keyword lists get somewhat inaccurate. I do believe that the keywords they have listed for a particular site were accurate when the search results were scanned for that keyword.

But perhaps it was a broad matched keyword Google's system no longer shows for an advertiser, or they quit bidding on it or they added it as a negative match, etc.

What the tools should do is when they rescan and update data for a keyword if an advertiser is no longer showing up it should be removed for that advertiser, but it doesn't seem that either of these tools does that.

    I could be wrong though.

VERY easy to bounce from one to the next.

I currently use Affiliate Elite to get their keywords. I'll have to check out Spyfu too...I use it for other things but haven't grabbed competitor's keywords with it yet

If it is not SpyFu, then it can't be SpyFu. What do I mean?
I mean that I'll vote for SpyFu in regards to finding out your competitors' keywords.

You can also get a good sense of what they feel they're best keywords are by looking at their meta keyword tags in the source code of their landing page.
