A reminder about tokens on the forum

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that before you post on a thread - copy and paste what you're about to post before you submit it.

Twice over the last week I submitted a post only to have it lost, along with the message that the token expired.

I don't know whether you use the forum like I do - I have several browser windows open at the same time because I go through it while I'm eating, so I'm doing my reading then. And later I'll came back to buy WSOs, or answer questions or make posts.

Apparently that creates an issue for the script running the forum, if I open a new window looking at another thread and want to post in a thread previously opened.

The solution is easy enough - as long as we remember to do it.... saving what you're about to post, pasting it in the thread you're attempting to post in. Then opening another window, copy/pasting the URL of the thread and opening it there, going back and copy/pasting the post you're going to make - and posting it in the new window.

I just hope you remember, to avoid losing what you took the time to write, which is why I'm making this post.

Warmly,
Dan

    What? You are multi-tasking?

I give my full attention and only have one thing going on at a time on the web. (yeah, right, I wish)

Sometimes you can hit the back button and see your post that you were editing too and just copy it from there - not that I've ever had to do that.

      One word. Amazing.

Good reminder tho, gosh I get so caught up with my different projects that I just can't believe the amount of FF tabs, Photoshop windows, Words docs, etc. I'll have open all at once. Luckily, my Mac is very capable of handling the major works loads

But, I def always hit command + a, then command + c before I hit the "Submit Reply" button!

    Hi Jill,

I think multi-tasking is a euphemism for lack of focus.

(In fact, I added that to my quote repertoire to share with my Twitter followers: "Multi-tasking is a euphemism for lack of focus." - Dan Klatt

I appreciate your point. After I restart my computer, I intend to have no more than four programs in the desktop tray at once. That lasts anywhere from a half day to day and a half, most times.

    Your point is well-taken!

    Thanks,
    Dan

P.S. Both times I lost my posts the "alt left arrow" did not let me back-track to the previous screen with my post on it.

I sometimes end up with the Warrior Forum open in several different types of browsers. I have found that having them open in FF, Chrome, IE and Safari can cause quite an interesting issue

Not sure it is called multitasking, more like blind wondering I call it the Oh Shiny disease. Good thing I am watching football too or I would think I wasn't being productive

I would suggest copying any long post on anything forum or blog. I have had several long blog comments that I didn't get the craptha write and it wouldn't let me back up to get it.

I'm glad you added to the conversation, Scott, about blog posts and I would add anytime you fill in a form.

Because I lost enough things I've typed over the years, before I submit something to a helpdesk or support request, I always make sure I copy/paste it, and even after it gets long enough that I would care if I lost it.

For example my FF browser crashes a lot, apparently some plug-in conflict. And IE is getting better. (I admit I'm using Chrome now for most things. I have not tried Safari, although I have not become enlightened with a Mac yet

So the idea of saving posts even before you finish them has merit, as well.

(Reminds me of the old joke about the devil challenging Jesus to a typing contest and just before the devil finished, even though he typed a lot faster than Jesus, his Windows crashed and he lost it all. Jesus won the contest, because "Jesus saves"

    Warmly,
    Dan
