Meta just launched a new app to counter Twitter, and it's called Threads. I haven't signed up on the platform yet.

    No - and won't be signing up. But then, I don't 'do' Twitter either.



    Of the two 'titans' - I prefer the humor and personality of Musk over Zuckerberg. Zuck assumes everyone on FB will jump to his new 'baby' - we'll see.

    According to Yahoo Finance, they hit 30 million users in the first 7 hours. Also elsewhere it was reported they had system outages today also. Probably had too much traffic, they could handle at one point. The way Elon has been running Twitter, "Threads " will probably end up with more users than Twitter.

    And it's reported you cannot 'quit' Threads without also leaving IG.


    Edit: I wonder how many of the supposed now 30 million 'signups' read the page that tells what info may be stored/shared by Threads....


    According to the "Data Linked to You" page found on Apple devices, the following information may be collected by Threads and linked to your identity:

    health and fitness
    financial info
    contact info
    user content
    browsing history
    usage data
    diagnostics
    purchases
    location (both general and specific)
    contacts
    search history
    identifiers
    sensitive info
    other data


    The list above is why Zuck is not releasing in Europe - Threads would violate privacy and other laws there.


    I'm neither for nor against Threads - won't affect me in any way. But I'm shocked that so many people will simply 'sign up' for an app and not seem to care what personal information they may be handing over.

    Yes! I just logged onto it today, very amazing thread app, 70 million people signed up since launch, its algorithm is just like twitter, I feel it. It will grow very quickly.

    side note is quite interesting. When I join , noticed don't know why I got followers automatic. I do post content on my thread. I never like others post. When this thread by FB launched. Now I never get followers automatic despite I post content which in the first place I used to.

    I mean yeah i might join threads but it depends on how much it holds value or in other terms how much its gonna benefit me , its funny and important at the same time.

    But in my opinion twitter will better in future if things goes smoothly.
