How to get more forum members

Hi guys we got about 300 members on our forums but people don't seem to be actively posting anymore. Anyone have ideas how we can encourage people to post again? I have tried sending on newsletters but that didn't seem to help alot.

    You can organize some competition
    For example: you can say, first person who make 100 posts but quality one will get i don't know ipod shuffle and $100
    The second one will get $100
    The third one will get $50
    This is just an one example how you can encourage people to post again
