Should I Use A Popup On My Blog?

I'm currently creating a freebie section for my blog(wordpress) and there is one particular product I wish to bring forth more than the others.

I'm thinking of using a popup but not sure what the outcome will be. Is it worth it or better off trying to get my visitors hooked some other way?

Also if you think I should can you advise which script you are using. Particulary a script that is easy to customize the popup design and where the confirmation appears in the popup along with a close button.

    How about trying .. and see what kind of feedback you get .. if it gives you sign-ups to your list or you show a severe drop off in traffic .. think you will find out relatively fast.

    Your customers will always tell you one way or another :-)

        If you are using a WP theme .. go to Plug-in's and search there .. should have plenty

        If you are using HTML then you can use some of the Popup Generator programs found online or do your own HTML popup w/sign-up form and use one of the free scripts available through a simple search ..

      I use the ulitmate Footer ad software as well. Currrently getting 4% conversion just through the pop-up.
