How do I block AddNewFollowers from spamming my twitter followers?

On Nov. 17 I bought the lifetime AddNewFollowers.com membership and gave it the required access to my Twitter account.

And then since then, once or twice a day, it has auto-tweet a promotion for its service, which looks just like all the other "get more followers" spam blanketing twitter - and jeopardizing my credibility, as well as interfering with my careful system of daily Think and Grow Rich quote tweets.

The developers at first showed concern to get the program to work (it still does not). Yet after the first auto-tweet and I asked them how to turn that off, they have not replied, even after I stressed the urgency and said it was unacceptable (I saw nothing disclosed about this questionable business practice or I would have steered clear of them).

I thought it would be as simple as going under Settings and Connections in my Twitter account to revoke the access of AddNewFollowers - however it's not showing up as even having access.

How do I prevent them from continuing their daily auto-tweets?

Thanks!

Dan

The easiest way to stop it is just to get rid of it.

The problem with auto-followers (besides that I think it is against Twitters TOS) is that all the automation just adds a bunch of automated followers that are not even really there to read your tweets, so then it doesn't even matter how many followers you have because they are all bots.

Have you tried changing your Twitter password? That might do it.

    Did you register using OAuth?

If so, on Twitter.com, go to settings>connections>revoke access.

    Either way, change your password, and be warned;
Except for main stream Twitter clients, these "Get Followers" and other
    programs are ALL trouble.

There are WSO's on WF right now that will get Warriors banned from Twitter.
Trust me, I know what I'm saying.

I thought about changing the password, although it should be as easy as revoking AddNewFollowers' access to my Twitter account.

The mystery is why it's not showing up under Settings/Connections in Twitter.

I don't know whether Oauth would have been an option. AddNewFollowers asked for my Twitter name and password and it made sense it would need it. I never considered using a third party (never thought their integrity would be called into question or remotely imagined the issue of auto-tweets or them ignoring my requests for help would come up, either - I guess there's a lesson in this for all of us about protecting your sensitive information and not being so quick to trust even Warriors.)

    Warmly,
    Dan

I've never used AddNewFollowers so I don't know how it works, but, from what you described, it sounds as though they are simply using your Twitter name and password to access your account and not using Oauth. If they're not using Oauth, they wouldn't show up in your Settings/Connections in Twitter.

according to their site, the paid accounts are "advertisement free". So they're breaching their own terms.

I was hoping the issue would be as simple as they did not upgrade me to the right amount (it was done manually, about four hours after I paid).

Although I would have expected them to just reply and take care of it shortly after the first auto-tweet posted on my account. They seemed sincere before then in saying they wanted to make sure the program worked for me. However after I questioned the auto-tweet - they have given me no replies, and the service still does not work.

I'm not sure a refund request would be responded to, either, except if AddNewFollowers is as it claims, I still would like to use it - without the ads, and with the ability to add new followers ;-)

(Sure makes me appreciate WSOs where the person posting them gives excellent customer service and support!)

    Warmly,
    Dan

auto follow is wasting your time any way. let it go. get relevant followers by actually meeting people instead of spamming them all the time.

Goto "Status Update" Uncheck the "Admin Tweets". That's all you have to do to turn this off.

Thanks, Dan. That answers something that had been bothering me since this issue began a couple weeks ago.

Thanks Mark. I'll contact you shortly to hopefully diagnose why I am unable to use the service on either of my two computers.

    Sincerely,
    Dan

Wow, that's nasty behavior. We have done few Twitter bots and I can assure you, it's either oAuth or direct access and they seem to be using direct access. Based on what you described, changing password should do it.

It was nasty. To me that's one of the most sinister things when companies do something that effect your reputation without being up front and honest with you about it ahead of time. And then as in this case when they suddenly become silent and end all communication for several days, that was... well, it was maddening enough for me to turn to my forum friends for help.... for which, as always, I am grateful!

    Thanks guys!

    Warmly,
    Dan

P.S. And just to be clear, they did eventually contact me with the solution to ending what I still consider a shady business practice. It was days after I changed the password which did prevent the intrusion. And they apologized for the delay in getting back with me.
