Marketing Attribution - GDPR First Party Cookies
Curious to hear if people are requiring cookie consent before they track UTM parameters in a first party cookie?
For example, person visits your website for the first time with UTM parameters of exampleurl.com?utm_medium=email&utm_source=newslet ter&utm_campaign=example
This is only being stored in a cookie so that upon completing a form, the first touch UTMs get stored in a hidden field.
I always thought this required consent, but I notice a lot of big companies making a exception for this, but then requiring consent for the likes of GA, Marketo etc.
Thanks
