new to the marketing game questions about traffic analysis for SEO

Hi guys, im new to the marketing side of things, have been a team lead and architect for startups and mobile apps. Now working to launch my app.

A question about traffic analysis SEO.

Im using SEMrush and rankIQ to check for keywords for my blog posts.

My question is if I can get away only using SEMrush, to find keywords, then when found the similar associated keywords using them all on an article according to the weight of the KW.

Is that the same thing that happens when I enter a keyword on rankIQ and compose an article with the given KW?

How about for YouTube can I use SEMrush also?

    A very good question. Long time ago I was using SEMrush, pretty good tool for SEO work. What I can suggest is basically go head to SEO section of this forum and ask there this question, I am sure you will find a better answer or people who exactly how to help you.

    I personally do not use such tools to determine keyword targets... They simply are not as accurate as one has been told or thinks.

    Going into Google Analytics and looking over the "Landing Page" data ( once a site is up and running ) gives you way more insights to what what terms people are looking for and how your site is performing.

    What I look for is the number of impressions on pages 3 and 4 and 8 pages back in the SERP's. it is VERY common to see a page listed on page 8 in the SERP's ( as an example ) that will have double and triple digit impressions. - Impressions are the number of times your listing could be seen in the SERP's - "clicks" would be a whole other number

    This means that people are looking that deep ( page 8 as the example ) into the search results looking for the information they are after. This equates to content creation that could see its way to the top of the search REGARDLESS of DA and PA analytics of pages in that search. The reality is the content in place IS NOT good content because there are so many searches seeing page 8 results.

    The beauty of this is, this is REAL data vs factored hypothetical data that is provided as a matrix that as much as it does exist, its not a known variable. SEMrush and the like ma or may not give you an idea of hats going on, but GA data is telling you specifically what is going on.

      Interesting take!

      I was thinking the same thing but in kind of an opposite way. For sure, the results are not what people are looking for if they have made it all the way to page 8 and are still looking for answers. That isn't necessarily those pages' fault but seems to indicate a flaw in the search engine for ranking all of those other pages higher in the SERPs.

      That said, if people do get to your page and the user metrics for your page are better than the pages listed higher than yours, there is definitely a solid chance that you will climb the rankings fairly rapidly.

        I have been using this method for years now. I will find "gems" if you will, and not always change the page that is ranking on page 8 but will develop a block of content around the same term - to build an amount of "Authority" around that term to give my content a better than fighting chance to bypass the algorithms need for weights, focusing more on Context and trust.
