What are the best niches

I'm mindful of what I hear many Affiliate guru's state, that you need to find a profitable niche market, where you have a hungry crowd, desperate for your product, or service. That's fine, I understand that, but the more I try and explore the various markets, the more and more I keep coming back to the same old niches; Dieting, Acne, Making Money, and a few others.

Many of the niches that I think could be great, (and they certainly have good traffic from what I can) dont seem to have a hungry crowd. Therefore, are these still good steady niches to get into, or not, as I would presume they are therefore less competitive as well when compared to the well known profitable niches.

Also, I have taken notice of some experts, who say to start with a cheap product, that you can give away, or charge less than $10 for, and gradually built up the product range to where you have a substantial product price range. Again, I can certainly relate to that, but I struggle with seeing how many of these 'less competitive' niches would be able to support a higher priced product, ie a membership site, or a $997 package with all sorts of videos, audios, and ebooks.

What are everyone else's thoughts or ideas around this?

Just pick something that you think someone looking for that solution would want to buy. Honestly, I wrote a few articles about a very specific pet care guide a little while back and what do ya know? I've made 7 direct linking sales of that product without working on it at all since I've been doing another niche.

As Marlon Sanders said many moons ago...

"find out who's spending the money, where they are spending it and jump in between"

Seems so simple yet so many people just never understand it.
