How can I promote for free, translation and proof reading services on X and Instagram?

Hello,

I`ve been looking at Twitter and Instagram to promote my proofreading and translation services. I want to try it.
The question is, how do I do it in BROAD TERMS?
I know I can use sites like traffup.com to get some followers on my Twitter account. And I`ve been studying a little about Instagram, where I`ve found out about engagement groups.
What kind of content do I need to build and share on social media to promote these kinds of services? The prices are 10$ an hour, not more, not less. Can`t do it on UpWork too much competition?
Can someone hit me up with some good ideas?

Overall just general information, just your creativity here.
Create engaging content that showscases your expertise, use relevant hashtags to reach your target audience, and engage with potential clients by joining discussions and offering helpful advice. Collaborate with complementary accounts, run contests or giveaways, and use appealing visuals to catch attention. Your profile should clearly communicate your services and how to contact you, post consistently.

It's great that you are considering a money making venture.

But ChatGPT proofreads and translates so you might want
to devise complex services that AI cannot do so easily.

Are you setting up a business or looking for a job, because
charging $10 an hour isn't going to work.

What if it takes you 20 minutes to get the job done? Are you
going to charge $3.33? You should re-think this.

Post your services on platforms where people are looking
to spend money. Some of them are saturated so it would
    help if you differentiate yourself.

    Why would someone hire you?

Your positioning would determine what you post.

Tell us why would someone hire you and not someone else or do it in-house?

By the way, when you charge $10 an hour, you position yourself as belonging to the bottom market (if you're targeting the USA).

It works best if you offer more than just low prices.

So, what do you offer? Why would I buy from you?

Ok, so I live in Romania. I`m gonna translate Romanian To English and the other way around. And I also do some proofreading for English. I just don`t know how to get clients. You should hire me because I offer a good quality and price ratio. Why hire someone from US to do it for at least 30$ an hour to translate 1 page when you can hire me to do it for 10$? What if you have hundreds of contracts and you are from the US and want to do business in Romania?

Why pay 30$ when I can do it for 10? I can take contracts, poetry, and other stuff like that, write it in Romanian, and Translate it into English. There isn`t really much more I can do here. You can have me translate anything from Romanian to English and vice versa at a high level. I know the language pretty well. So I don`t really understand why are those other pieces of information like why I should hire you and stuff like that.

You should hire me because I`m cheap that`s the main reason and the only reason. You should hire me because I`m gonna do the job on time.
All I need is how to get leads from people that got stuff that need to be translated. I don`t know how to get in front of them without spending money on ads or writing articles. Those are not my things.

So, If anybody can share what platform I should use and give me some examples of what content I should write about. Like let`s say I create pictures on Instagram with a famous quote from someone, and the Quote is in English, and I translate it from English to Romanian, and people who are from Romania can see the Quote how accurately it`s been translated, and they understand and showcase it`s true meaning not just turning the English words into Romanian.
Do you know what I`m saying?

Why hire you because you will only charge $10.00. Someone in the US can go to Fiverr and pay less. You will also be lumped in with all the other who charge $10.00

If someone from the US wants quality they will not pay that small fee. There is an old saying you get what you paid for. A lot of the cheaper article writers do poor-quality work.

What is your time worth? $30.00 an hour is $0.50 per minute, versus $10.00 an hour worth approximately $0.16 a minute.

If you go to a site like Upwork you will be competing against thousands of writers selling the same service for $10.00 an hour or cheaper. It's a very tough place to even try to make a living. After the Pandemic it has gotten worse with more people than there is work.

You may be limiting yourself because of your location and
you need to work on that.

Again, ChatGPT translates including Romanian to English
      and back again.

It also writes poetry and it even does nuances.

People here are trying to give you advice and guidance
in order to help you succeed, no one wants to discourage
      you from doing your plan.

But if we see your plan is unlikely to make money for you
then we point it out so that you don't waste time chasing
your tail and spinning your wheels.

In my previous comment I told you to offer more complex
services and I am going to give you an example of one:

"I will write you a 50-page ebook on any topic, design an
eye-catching cover, list it for sale on 5 major platforms,
set up 3 social media accounts, and promote your ebook
      for the next 6 months."

Which service do you think will get actual sales?

Let me start from the other end. Who hires Romanian-English or English-Romanian translators?

Where do these people live? I mean, what websites, forums, conferences do they go to?

Why do they want a translator?

You're staying, it seems, general. You need to identify your target audiences. For two reasons:
      1. easier to find them
      2. easier to convince them to hire you when you address them directly.

For instance, you want to target medical companies who need translator. And banks. You'd talk differently (and your samples would be different) for the two groups.

Google Translate got much better at translating. There's fiverr for the really cheap. You're positioning yourself about twice as expensive as fiverr but still cheap.

Why should I pay $30 when I can pay only $10? Trust. People charging $10 in my part of the world (USA, big city), seem too cheap. So cheap that they come across as not capable of doing a good job.

Your options are to have, as part of your sale pitch, a section where you cover the reason: The average Romanian makes $480/month. On minimum wage, working full-time, you make a bit over $2500 a month. You'd have to talk about that... and hope. Or charge what people in the area where you want clients from find reasonable.

People who are looking to buy a luxury car do not even bother to look at a Hundai. They look at Ferrari's and Lamborghini's. And vice versa: people who can only afford a $25000 car, will shop Hundai, Kia, that kind of car.

Which means, if you put a Kia offer in front of a luxury car buyer, that buyer will just skip over the Kia offer. You put an offer for a Lamborghini, the Kia-shopper will gawk at the photo but not call you to set up an appointment... unless as a joke.

      So, one:
specialize (technical / legal / medical) translating is harder than general translating.

figure out who, within the specialized area, you want as your target audience (bitcoin companies will respond to marketing campaigns differently than international banks; dentists differently than hear-surgery researchers.

find out where online they live... and be there. They may have forums or facebook pages or linkedin groups.

You could also look up translator employment offers on sites like indded.com or craigslist.com or... Approach those looking for Romanian-English translators. Upwork.com has five ads for people looking for a translator who handles Romanian right now. Linkedin.com says they have them too, but I could not confirm, though at least one of the companies advertising is an international one, working in many countries.

Place ads, if you can afford. If not, participate. I mean, on Linkedin, create a profile, post stuff that someone looking for a Romanian-English translator might find useful. Connect with people who work for companies that hire translators... Most would, probably, be translation agencies.

I was going to suggest freelancer.com but I did not find any Romanian translator needed ads. I found this, however: https://www.freelancer.com/projects/...nian-technical

It's an ad for a marketer for their Romanian arm.

They may, or may not, need a Romanian translator. Contact them, and companies like this and find out.

Short of it, Cheap is not a great unique selling proposition. You need more.

The OP has not come by in a while, still, this is useful info:
I heard this on NPR a week ago: AI has already reduced the number of freelance writing, drawing, translating (and similar jobs) by 21%.

If you're venturing into one of these fields, keep that in mind. It means you will have to do one or more of the things below:
    1. be much better than most (and good at positioning yourself)
    2. offer a packet (translating or writing combined with a sales funnel kind of thing)
    3. Accept a pitifully low price (or one so high that people think you're better for them than AI (and be able to back it up).
    4. Specialize in an area AI has problems (perhaps writing poetry or jokes)

    5. A combination of all.

Whatever you do, know that AI has already changed the field and, as it gets better, it will change it more.

Those numbers will grow and AI will displace people in
various industries, not just internet marketers, content
      creators, publishers, copywriters, etc.

If you are an information-based business, you should
leverage AI to work for you or you will get left behind.

BTW, ChatGPT has written poems for me and it does

      FANTASTIC!
