I have an entire website where I review software products and have learned that the best way to write a review is to actually use the product. You simply will not be at shortage of words if you use the product and break it down into just a few major reasons you like the product, and a few major reasons you dislike it.

After the article give it a ranking that you personalize somehow with your topic. For example a diet product, give it 4 out of 5 calories. For a auto product give it 3 out of 4 wheels. For an audio download give it 4 out 5 ear buds etc. (Make some nice graphics for these and explain your ranking system on the main page using targeted keywords for your site.)

Also, I highly recommend you turn your written review into a youtube video and post that along with your review.

Yes, Marty S is correct! You have to think from the perspective of a critic and not just a reviewer. You have to present the pros and cons of the product!

Maybe the biggest problem then would be when you are not able to purchase and use the product you want to review and promote. This is a known problem for IMers from outside USA, like me.

List the pros and cons. Give it a rating. Give it your own flavour.

If you need ideas for presentation, etc, check out gaming review sites like gamespot.com, ign.com.

These sites review game products everyday, and has a lot of 'authority' and 'power' such that game creating publishers and developers all have to at times give 'priority' to such gaming sites.

Their reviews either make the game or break the game in terms of marketing.

A good review site should ultimately have the aim similar to as such!

The best way is try it yourself and assume you're the customer. Then you will know whether it's valuable or necessary, and use some ads to promote your service or product. In a word, you should be familiar with it before selling it.

        Okay, let's run with this...

Step 1 is to find a company that sells game systems, games and accessories via an affiliate program. Try Amazon, or Google 'video games' + (affiliate OR associate OR partner). Sign up for the affiliate program.

Step 2 is setting up the site. A WP blog works well.

Step 3 is creating the reviews. Here's one format:

        > Give a short description of the game.
        > Give the best points about it.
        > Give any drawbacks.
        > Describe who you think will enjoy this game the most.
        > Give it a rating (like 4 out of 5 stars or whatever you think will sit well with your audience).
        > Let them know they can buy the game from the company you signed up with.
        > Before you publish the review, go back and link the name of the game and the name of the company with your affiliate link. If the game is specific to one platform (Wii, for example), link to the system as well - you might pick up a nice bonus commission.

Step 4 is driving targeted traffic. Do a forum search on "traffic" and you'll find a ton of useful information.

Write reviews that people trust, and they will follow your links and buy what you recommend.

        Does this help?

I've learned that reviews leave a taste. If you support or liked the product, talk about the con's first and make them sound insignificant, and then expand on the pro's last. Which keeps people focusing on the pro's instead of the con's.

You've to fork out money if you tried all the methods given to you here.If it's a $7 report maybe you can afford it,but what if it's a $300 product? Would pay for and test it so that you write a 2 page review? If I'm in your place, I won't.

Let me give you a better alternative. Just google your product name with the word "review".

example: seoelite review or market samurai review

I bet that you can find hundreds of review from others. If you head on to EZA, there's a special category to review products.Go there and check out if there're review for your products! If it's a amazon product that you're selling, you can just get the review from the product's description page.

Collect positive and negative 5-6 reviews, extract the best description that you find useful and write your own review. Make sure you include pros and cons. In doing this you can save your time a lot.

PS: If you're promoting software programs, certainly there're will youtube videos to show you how the product works. Watch it and describe it in your own words.

PPS:If other people down here, condemmed about this technique or called it as "greyhat", IGNORE them. You're actually WORKING smarter to cut down your time.

Well, I think the BEST way to write a review is to do a case study or demonstration where people can actually see you testing the product out and using it.

It's always best to buy your own domain name and (imo) install wordpress cms as it's easy to manage your site, seo optimize it etc. Of course you'll have to purchase hosting to go with it as well but it's definitely worth it.

This can be a very effective method of researching products for reviews, with two caveats...

        1. Look for honest reviews, especially by third parties who don't stand to profit from a purchase decision. This applies to affiliate reviews mostly, regardless if the review is promoting the product being reviewed or a competitor.

Watch out for single page or post "review blogs" whose sole purpose is to sell or pre-sell the product. Alternately, watch out for reviews that are overwhelmingly negative. Both likely come from someone who has other motives than simply providing useful reviews.

        2. Don't try to pass off a compiled review as your own personal experience with a product. It's perfectly legitimate to say you haven't purchased the product yet, but you are passing on your own research to help others.

Get caught out "fudging" reviews and you chance losing not only your credibility but also a pile of money should you do well enough to hit the FTC radar...

I think a good review requires access to the product. Screenshots, video, references to particular parts of the product. These are the things that make a visitor stop and think about the product seriously.

I also like to write a review for a similar free service and compare with the paid service.

You can usually get temporary access to the product if you take the time to talk to the affiliate manager and that also helps a lot.

I just thought of something, what about creating an actual review site for the product so it's actual people posting their reviews, a mini micro niche product review site?

Kinda like the reviews you see on Amazon, I always find those helpful. I'm sure it's been done, but I haven't personally come across one.

Then just work your aff link somewhere on the page.
