Blogging A Good Idea?

Hi guys, I see lots of people suggesting to start blogging because it's one of the best ways to rank your website.

It sounds like a great idea. I can improve my writing and force myself to do more research in topics for my website.

I tried to write an article and all, but something tells me it's a waste of time. Why? I can just use ChatGPT and it gives me a 100 times better answers to any questions I have VS google.

I can't remember when was the last time I googled anything..

How is blogging a good idea, if nobody will use google in near future? Just try asking ChatGPT to create an article. It can generate anything AND with a couple of tweaks, I get really good answers.

Feel free to tell me how I'm wrong about this and how ChatGPT is not going to replace people googling.

You guys still blogging?

Yes blogging is still useful and can help to rank website but the main thing is you have to write a content that could be directly connected by readers. I mean to say that firstly analyze what's in demand within your niche then create article. Don't completely rely on gpt because of google's recent update. All in all AI can never replace human content.

You have added good points about blogging and some more points that I want to add:

      1. Blogging is a better idea because only professional, niche-based bloggers can write their experience and thinking on their blog sites.

      2. ChatGPT may not give the accurate result all the time.

      3. Getting professional ideas for online readers or traffic from high-authority blog sites is also a preferable way.

      4. Google and other search engines love well-authority, unique, and established websites (blogging sites) for ranking.

So I personally don't suggest creating articles/content directly by using ChatGPT. Creating an article by using one's own experience and expertise is also a better way for blogging.

And yet, just two days ago, you responded to the question; the best way to find clients online...with this:

    1. Find the niche(s) you are targeting.
    2. Search on google for company websites, using keywords for your niches.
    3. Research their company on google and / or some services that collect data on companies.
    4. Search for emails on websites that match your niche. Yeah, some of them will not have it, but some will.

Google will evolve, it is not going to disappear because of ChatAI, it is, in fact, AI itself.

As to what is a good idea, that has to do with the INTENT. You mentioned ranking a website. What is the purpose of the website, what is it supposed to be doing for you?

INTENTION dictates the action required, and any activity that advances that, is a good idea. With nothing to say, as you readily admit, and must resort to AI for content, I would say blogging is NOT a good idea for you.

Blogging works best for people with something to say, or at least they think they do. And as for ranking websites, we're just months away from advanced AI which will reject itself, that is, if it crawls a site that is mostly AI content, it won't rank it at all...that is the very near future.

Blogging, like with any Internet Marketing activity, needs to have a reason or a purpose to exist. So, what is your intention with your website? That tells us which method might be better suited to your goals, eh?

No need to be hostile, my man.

Anyhow, thanks for the answer, I really appreciate your time!

I'm far from good with writing articles, but I'm willing to learn. It's a skill after all.

I'm trying to start blogging, to get prospects on my website, with an intension to sell to them later on.

I was just saying that there's a possibility of more and more people starting to use ChatGPT, and google might decline. Therefore, blogs won't be visited anymore.

I see that SOME things AI can't have. Like some info gained through experience and some tips and tricks, that are not documented anywhere. So I will go with that.

      Thanks again.

Interesting that you felt it was hostile, I found it to be, um, weird, that someone who said they don't use google, would refer people to use it, but maybe that is just me.

Whereas I, and maybe some other Warriors may be blunt at times, it may be because we've seen thousands of people over the last 24 years spin their wheels and waste their time...and feel being straight forward and to the point is being helpful.

Hostility or helpful, my man, good luck in getting to the selling them something point, albeit, my opinion, maybe taking a long about way to get there.

Best wishes in your ventures my man.

As to you planning on selling things, you might want

Blogging works if you are consistent and your content
is about a topic that people are interested in.

ChatGPT is great because it can develop content that
you might not be an expert about, the sky's the limit
    on all of that.

As to your use of Google, you can extract other data/info
besides doing basic searches. There's at least 50 search
functions you can execute with it.

An example of a function is: all in url

Those 50 are just the ones I know of, there are probably
many more and combinations of functions are endless.

ChatGPT and Google help you access information that
can be monetized, and I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss
    either of them.

I'm making a blog exactly because of SEO benefits, so people see my blog when sarching on google.

I meant that if nobody uses google anymore, what's the point of SEO..

I realized, however, that for some queries, even AI uses search engines like google and bing.

I'm still super sceptical, but this makes it a bit better. Can't wait what will happen to our jobs in a few years..

On a positive note, I started my first blog article.

I'm not an expert, I just started my first ever article.

What I did was search for an article on google, that was to do with my niche. I'm selling proxy services. So it was to do with proxies.

Next I gave the whole blog to ChatGPT and asked to pull out the most imporant points.

After that I took each of those parts and kinda "added some flesh on the bones".

I didn't try to edit it while writing, just a complete brain dump. Now need to tidy it up and ask the shitty ChatGPT 4o, what else am I missing.

However, because it's so bad with adding emotion to the template for a blog, and I absolutely need to feel a human touch and emotion, I might need to google some more blogs for inspiration and an overall structure.

Btw I'm intentionally being passive agressive

If you want ChatGPT to write with more emotion, a human
touch, or whatever else, you have to instruct it to do that.

It will do pretty much whatever you prompt it to.

I usually prompt it to write at a certain reading level, for
example "write at the 12th grade level" and some other
        proprietary instructions.

Also, if you are having writer's block with your prompts,
ChatGPT will write its own prompts. Just give it some
general instructions on what the prompts should be.

You've touched on an important and often painful topic for many. On one hand, a lot of people are generating massive amounts of content with ChatGPT and filling their blogs with it. But then the question arises - why would readers need such a blog if they can just find the same information using ChatGPT themselves?

Blogs like that don't offer much value and often end up getting filtered out by Google for being low-quality content that doesn't serve the readers. These types of blogs will likely fade away over time because they relied solely on Google traffic, which is no longer there (or almost gone).

However, there are other blogs where the content is created by the author, using their own experience and skills. Typically, this is highly specialized content that includes the author's observations, research, and personal conclusions. This kind of content can't be generated by any AI software. People will continue to read these blogs because they find value in the unique perspective and insights. Importantly, they will visit these blogs directly, by name, without relying on commercial or informational search queries.

So my conclusion is this: if you can create a blog brand based on your knowledge and the ability to engage readers, go for it - your blog will find its audience. But if you're looking to "improve" your blog content by using ChatGPT to make it seem more "useful for users," it's just a waste of time.

Yeah, it's all about sharing something unique that you have discovered yourself through experience. AI can't possibly know all these insider tips, for now.

IMHO the best way to use a blog these days is not to attract traffic on it's own, Google has basically killed SEO which I think will only get worse before it gets better.

Because, AI derives it's information from human created content, but now that SEO is dead, humans have no reason to attempt to rank in the serps (more on that later) and so AI is now feeding on itself and this is a huge problem.

So, I feel the best way to blog is to use it as a hub and drive traffic to it from sources other than Google.

Make your site a destination, a place where they come back time and time again to get your information because they can't get it from an AI engine that currently is slowly spiraling in it's own death loop of using AI content on all these sites to create AI content.

Think of your site as a hub where you get people on your list, notify them of new content when you post and use dozens of other sources to drive traffic to it.

Those sources too will evolve over time, but at least for the mean time your site used as a hub should endure.

  • ChatGPT is an incredible tool for generating content, but it's just that--a tool. It doesn't generate completely unique insights or have real-world experience. Users still value authentic, experience-based, niche content. The personal touch, expertise, and unique perspective you bring to your articles can't be replicated by AI, which will always rely on generalized datasets.

Yes, blogging can be a very effective strategy for improving the ranking of your website.
Blogging improves organic search. Regularly publishing blog posts keeps your website updated with fresh content. Search engines ranks the websites higher where content is regularly updated with new details.
Blogs also allow you to naturally integrate relevant keywords that users are searching for, helping your site appear in more search results.
Blog posts are a great way to target long-tail keywords (specific phrases) that can bring in highly targeted traffic.

i am new to this, but thinking on starting as well. Chat GPT is a great tool, but it certainly is not near to Google in terms of amount of people using it. An average person does not use AI to search for, let's say, best hotels in Hawaii. Neither would I, because Chat GPT also gives you the most generic responses and you want to dig deeper when you are spending money. Anyways, blogging looks like a natural step now that we have so many tools to help us

Blogging is as relevant as ever because being a genuine blogger who adds a first person touch to posts differentiates you from AI blogging or AI generated content.

Human beings become loyal followers, customers and clients based on human beings trusting your content. Running a well-stocked blog filled with personal experiences readers can relate to - linking your experiences with solving reader problems - gains credibility like few methods online. Branding, customizing and monetizing potential are limitless because you own the content and set the rules, when you invest in your domain and hosting and choose WordPress Dot Org.

The critical step: frame blogging as a skill requiring patient learning, practice and mastery over years. This is not fast food. Blogging involves embracing a steep learning curve but the potential is in essence limitless, since you own the site, can create all types of helpful content and can monetize it from so many angles, it'll make your head spin.

I've blogged for 16 years; it's never been more important, doing it as a genuine human, in a world of fraudulent content generated by AI. Humans are vetting content more than ever; did a human create it or did AI spin it? Running a genuine blog with your authentic personal experiences answers that question real fast.

Hi. It's an interesting question, but perhaps it's not quite the right question.
If you're looking for SEO, there are lots of ways to help you get the website views you're looking for. But are you just looking for volumes of traffic? Or are you looking for your ideal customers to be looking at your site? If that's the case, then you need to think much more about what your audience want/need and create content that answers those needs. That content, be it blog, video, social etc, will start to attract the right people to your website. BUT... they are FAR more likely to want to engage with your content/site if the content is authentic.
You're right, ChatGPT can do many things for you, and far faster than most of us can work. But as audiences become even more savvy, it's the PERSONAL connection they crave. You will struggle to get authenticity if you're just using the same computer-generated content as everyone else.
If you're looking for longer term success for your website/business, then you need to be consistent, carry on over the long-term and be authentic. Best of luck

The comments here made for an interesting read. One thing I'd like to add is that it's a mistake to assume that everyone will immediately switch to the most efficient method of using the web. Just look at how long people stuck with Internet Explorer for years after Chrome and Firefox became objectively better.

Even if Google doesn't change a single thing, plenty of demographics would still be using Google 5-10 years from now due to inertia alone. So one thing to consider is whether or not your target audience is likely to be AI early adopters. There will always be people who'd rather Google something than ask AI about it.

Totally agree, AI tools like ChatGPT are amazing, but blogging is more than just answering questions. It's about creating a community, sharing experiences, and adding value in your own voice. AI can't fully replicate that.

    Hello,

I use Google blogger for my niche. I have not made a single cent on it, but I just love to share my knowledge without using AI.

AI and chatGPT in particular are just fashionable toys everybody now likes. But if you look at the core - the AI makes your brain lazy, and it only reproduces what was created by other, talented and hard-working people. It is now coming to the point where the entire Internet is filled with botshit and less and less people know how things work I know programmers (coders) who don't bother learning languages and methods - chatgpt does it for them. Moreover, they consider the old-time coders as useless and dying-out dinosaurs. Idiocrasy is coming.

AI might change how we create and consume content; the human touch and personal branding remain irreplaceable.

There are people telling me that blog and seo is DEAD. I have been blogging since 2006 and i think its one of the best things to increase organic ranking and branding. There is no doubt why blogging is not beneficial or harmful for your busines. Though blogging is good, being systematical and focused on the topic is important. A company focused on tech may be tempted to write about gadgets, software and technology . Its always better to fix a niche and write as much possible around one single topic. No point going wide , writing topics all around the place.

I think blogging will make a comeback sooner or later, but now, the way we know it... more like something to create a deeper connection with the reader. One great way to do it is doing daily email to your list and turning your email into blog post.

Add a sidebar to your blog with your best selling product and you are good to go.

Bandwidth and Storage Limits - Check for unmetered bandwidth and ample storage. Some providers throttle speeds or charge extra for overages. If you ask me, I am happy running my blogs at GTHost.com servers. Everything works fine.

I think that there is just way too much competition out there. Think about it. There are 1000's and 1000's of websites and website owners who have the same idea as you and are competing for space.

In the late 1990's it was all new so you can rank pretty easily.

Today it is 2025 and I just don't think it is a good strategy.

Now a days , I just wouldn't even think about this and focus more on social media but it is very competitive there too.

No doubt ChatGPT generates a great, professional content as per your needs.

But Google won't rank the AI- generated content, it wants the high - quality content which is written by a human. So if your goal from blogging is to rank your website then express in your own words regarding related topic.

I think blogging is here to stay. While the advent of AI has definitely added to seeing blogging as a "dying medium", I think it's also viewed that way because it's harder to rank content, and it's (generally) hard to put out engaging content on a regular basis. I've done research for a while now and the general consensus is to put out 1 blog post of 2500+ words every week.

It's not too hard if all you do is blog and research. Even easier if you're a writer. But (in my opinion) it's not that easy if you have a full-time job, a side hustle and you're still trying to have a social life, among other things (projection much, LOL). Of course, if the blog is most important, some other items will have to fall by the side.

Now imagine if you go for creating a 2500+ word blog post backed by research, knowledge, insights, and experience... every day? And then you have to "market it" (social media, videos, audio, etc.)?

Definitely not that easy, and that's why I can understand why people elect to "outsource or use AI" for their content creation. Even then, you still have to promote your content.

As a blogger I don't think blogging is dead... but I do believe a lot of people shy away from it because it can take more work than anticipated. I can tell you that from doing half-baked work for years LOL.

However, having your own platform which you can do anything you want with it... is very freeing and fun, and it helps that you can make money with it too. So, it's definitely not dead, and maybe whoever is saying it is... is trying to give you an alternative method.

I'd also say that while Google is the search engine giant, don't count out the smaller guys (yahoo, Bing, etc.). They are capable search engines of sending traffic... just in case Google happens to not be the leader anymore.

    Hope this helps.

p.s. If blogging dies, no one would have the need to post "articles or blog posts" anymore, and then AI wouldn't get trained anymore from any "new content"... so can blogging really die, or not? Food for thought.

    Content rules--simple as that.

So, the quick answer? Heck yeah. The more focused take? It depends on how you're using the blog under your main content strategy. The real game-changer? Content gaps.

This all assumes your blog is actually visible -- meaning it's getting traction and being noticed, including by AI-driven search like ChatGPT, Grok, etc. If not, you're just wasting your time.

But if your blog is showing up, pulling in real engagement, and getting legit comments that support your product or service, then yeah, it's a solid boost to your organic SEO.

Now, on the content quality side, it's all about filling content gaps. Can you expand your site's overall info? Add more details about your product or service? Cover your locations better? Drop a stronger CTA than what's on your main site? That's the real value.

AI can't do this for you. It doesn't know the nitty-gritty of your business, and it sure as hell can't compare your toughest competitors' offerings. Sure, people can pump out AI-generated content, but if they're just spitting out fluff, their blog is probably useless.

And yeah, Google Search as we know it? It's already old news--that's not even a prediction.
