Course that teach how to make money form music

by Deflo
16 replies
I saw an advertisement from a self-proclaimed guru teaching how to make money using earnings from music royalties. I know there are some sites that sell jingles or even entire songs. Can you tell me if such a course exists here on the Warrior Forum? Please, not a video course; I'm one of those who prefer reading ;-)
Thanks,
Gabriel

yes i tried, but at first glance i didn't find anything. I was hoping for a suggestion from someone who had already tested the course, rather than going for broke.

If you are interested in that course topic, then take the course.

It is nice that you prefer reading over videos, but most videos
have transcripts, figure out how to read the transcript or find a
book about the topic. There are billions of books.

Asking about the course on an unrelated forum is not research,
it would be better to find students that already took the course,
or just ask the guru for testimonials.

If someone can tell you how to make passive income using a
method that you would like, I don't see the problem other than
you're not going to do anything after you take the course.

If you are someone who does not take action, then do not
      take the course.

There's a misunderstanding: I'm looking for a course because I'm interested in the topic, but I don't know any.
Otherwise, of course, I would have already taken it. That's why I'm asking around.

There is no misunderstanding because this is what you wrote:

"I saw an advertisement from a self-proclaimed guru teaching
how to make money using earnings from music royalties."

Why don't you just contact that person about their course.

I got the part about you not wanting to spend the money, and
looking for something potentially cheaper but a course exists.

Anyway, good luck to you with this venture.

You probably need some kind of an information management
system so that you can capture and retain things like this.

Have you checked Udemy, because I just looked and there
are about 4,800+ search results for "music royalties" and most
of their courses are under $20.

Note that does not mean there are 4,800+ courses for this.

information management system? I've never heard of it before, but it seems really interesting, do you already use one? Anything in particular to suggest?

Thanks for the info on udemy, I'll check it out right away ;-)

What business are you in where you don't understand what
              an information management system is?

I'll keep it simple for you - start with a pencil and a piece of
paper to write things down. Maybe even a spiral notebook.

Once you have mastered that, you can move up to more
              advanced technologies.

Things to annotate are budgets, passwords, mom's birthday,
random thoughts, notes to self, to-do lists, etc.

If there's anything else I wrote that you don't understand,
              please google it.

              Good luck with Udemy.

you hit the nail on the head: if I remember correctly, that commercial was actually about buying and selling music rights, not making a profit on your own music, and that's exactly what intrigued me.
                I'm a terrible musician!
I don't know who this sccopter braun is, but thanks for the warning.

It doesn't matter who is selling the course or the commercial you saw, I guarantee it was written by some slick copywriter that made it sound simple and easy. Far from it.

See IP is a world where you must have a specialist attorney, it is a niche filled with litigious sharks top to bottom, next thing is go google or AI the story of Scooter Braun vs. Taylor Swift. Holding IP is mostly an ability to DEFEND, in a court of law, your ownership rights of that IP...be they copyrights, trademarks, music, literature, or other forms of IP.

The low hanging fruit of IP, doesn't have that much stored value in it to warrant the investment for the most part, having Intellectual Property rights, is one thing, cashing in on the ownership is a different thing altogether.

It is and can be a lucrative field, but not for 99.99% of all Warriors, and that probably includes you, based on what you have posted about it. It is a specialty, and one that takes a lot of study to fully understand.

It is the job of many a modern copywriter to make things sound easy-peasy so some marketer can make a ton of money from the naive and hopeful.

Do some homework on this one.

                  GordonJ

P.S. If you have some specific questions, I may or may not be able to answer them.

No one has probably put a course out at this time. You are probably going to have to figure it out on your own.

If I were you, I'd be a little wary of searching for a making money in music course unless it were bang up to date. There are radical changes going on at the moment - not least in the areas of AI-produced jingles and streaming royalties.

Might be prudent to let the dust settle a bit.
