What's the most important lesson you've learned in affiliate marketing?

The main thing for me is to provide value, never focus on money or how i can make it no matter what, its all about personal branding, treat ure leads as a friend how can i help them, not what can i get from them, digital marketing trainin and community are key for me, spammin links never ever works

An affiliate is selling somebody's product, the buyer becomes the seller's. One way to make it a win-win-win for all is to offer a bonus only you can offer, and by doing so, their buyer can be added to your house list. And any buyer in the hand is worth 20 in the bushes.

A part of the journey one might think about at the start, is, how to become the person who has the product to offer to affiliates. When you transition to being both the creator and the affiliate, you are on your way to freedom.

I remember at 1 point as an affiliate every one of us in the program was using the same swipe copy which quickly became redundant and boring to our list of subscribers.

When I started with affiliate marketing around 20 years
ago, I wish that I had known how easy things were back
then.

How unsaturated things were, how there weren't millions
of other people doing your same methods, how easy it
was to set up websites that generated traffic with SEO
and type-in traffic.

I have learned several lessons since then, but the most
important one is that if you keep doing more of whatever
you are doing correctly, you will have a greater chance
of generating more income.

Another lesson, not for myself because I do not do this,
but for noobs - don't re-invent the wheel on affiliate
marketing. Just do what works and carry on.

With digital marketing and specially affiliate marketing, i learned a big lesson 2 years back. Diverisfy. dont depend on one product or service. Have atleast 3 websties running simultaneously.

And dont be fooled by latest trends and what people do. For instance one of my webistes went freom 1000 visitors a day to 10 visitors a day because i thought putting ai content on my website to beat my competition was a good idea. Sadly not. When something new is tredning, wait. Dont jump into it. Things may work out for a while but the crash is WAY TOO bigger than you could handle.

Some lessons I have learned during affiliate marketing...

They are:

1. Need less cost if doing affiliate marketing with a blog site.

2. Creating a blog site with a better hosting company for decreasing downtime issues.

3. Acquiring a huge amount of organic traffic/website visitors on a blog site is necessary.

4. Proper implementation of off-page and on-page SEO in a blog site for ranking in search engines (Google, Bing, etc.)

5. Brand promotion is useful for doing affiliate marketing.

6. Creating expert product reviews on a blog site is important for more sales conversion.

7. Regular social media activities will be better.

Create your own products and build a list.


I can't tell how many times I affiliated a product only for them to change it, take it down, change the sales letter or???


Right after I made 25 videos for it, selling 10 - 15 copies per day, then poof, no sales.


Take charge of YOUR own destiny, don't leave it in others hands.

In 08-09-10 getting sites and videos to the top of Google or YT was so easy it was boring.

Which brings me to one thing I learned - Put your freakin" money (if you make any) in the bank. It may be rolling in now but the Internet is a damn fickle thing and not much lasts for long.

Search this forum and you will find numerous tales of woe from marketers who went from tens of thousands per month to basically nothing almost over night.

One important lesson that I learned in my journey that I wish I had known earlier was not to directly link to the affiliate offer.

In other words, never send the prospective customer directly to the offer without first trying to capture information about them like their email address. At least if they did not purchase anything you can always follow up afterwards.

Be patient and be value orientated and not to be a pushy salesman

I think its the fact that you should never put all your eggs in one single basket ,more exactly you should never depend on a single traffic source .I know people who spend years building their channel and spending a lot of money just to wake up with account beying banned without doing something wrong
Google ,social media etc can give an update that can ruin all your work or delete your platform etc
Also i know people with sites who they have hundrends of thousands views per day just to wake up having 100 views per day after one google update

Offset your lead gen cost with low-ticket products, and THEN sell your affiliate products. Be sure to have more than one affiliate product to sell..

It's to build a flipping list.

Over the years I've got affiliate commissions from blogging. Sure, that is nice to see come in randomly.

But what's better is to be able to "command at will" an affiliate commission with a traffic source you own which is your list.

Even if the list is "freebie seekers" who picked up your lead magnet as a result of signing up... that's ok. Just make sure you're building a list and mailing it every now and then. Make sure they're not forgetting about you by email, and make sure that when you do email, you help and don't try to promote every time.

Eventually, you want to build a list of "buyers," which are people who have bought your products or people you know have bought other people's products. At that point, it'll be easier to use your list as a "value-producing cash machine," in which you provide value and when you email about a product, (depending on the niche) they most likely will buy it (but make sure what you're promoting is good).

I've yet to build a buyer's list but with my freebie list, I've earned a good amount of affiliate commissions from it. I just need to get more subscribers now LOL. Getting subscribers has everything to do with List Building, and that's another topic.

The bottom line is consistency. You can't let all the many opportunities over load your decision making process. Who are you? What are you passionate about? What are you going to be able to consistently put in the work for? The answer for me is a combination of my own digital products and well placed affiliate links to services I actually use.

I spent a lot of time in the beginning trying things I didn't care about simply because clickbank said it had a high payout. Learning how to match the products or services with what I actually do was key for me. So... if it is a high ticket you gotta make sure you would buy that for yourself-in your field.

For instance... I make music so (when and if I am in the market or actively looking) I would definitely spend some money on a badass guitar or high end recording equipment, so it isn't a stretch for me that another serious artist would do the same. I quit affiliate marketing in 2017 when my clientele crossed 1000. I have been using my own product to push traffic to my double-optin list. Then I noticed that my own product is making more revenue than affiliate commissions, so I decided to give solutions to affiliates and quit doing the same for myself. I was making ~100k on Clicksure at that time and have more experience than any other affiliate around the globe (being a service provider). So the biggest lesson I have learnt is not to switch niches and marketplaces rapidly when you are not getting results. It's totally normal with no sales for several weeks. Just stick to what you are sending and make your today better than yesterday.

One thing I learned is to keep it simple. Too many people, as affiliates, take over the job of selling the product. Don't do that. Let the vendor sell the product. Your job as an affiliate is to get the click. Focus on getting your visitor to click the link, do not focus on selling the product.

Out of a few mentors as an affiliate marketer, I learned the best advice from my best mentor who said that it TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE. That is so true because I tried FREE advertising like other mentors have told me but that never worked for me. What really works is PAID ads.

It's very important to communicate with publishers and know what kind of promotion materials is more popular by publishers. This is the key to increasing sales.

For me I've done cpa marketing cost per action Wich is promoting offer that people only have to sign up and fill out a form and you get paid $2 to $3 dollars per sign up , I've had good success with Facebook ads , and Facebook groups, the most important lesson it's keep testing what works what traffic source works best for your offer and always build a audience and your list

Because the one thing I have never done is TRACK where I am getting leads that lead to sales.

The worst thing is to advertise your opt in or landing page and never TRACK where each lead/sale is coming from.

If you are not tracking things, you are shooting in the dark.

Focus on the offer-audience fit. You can have great traffic, fancy tools, and solid content, but if the offer doesn't match what people actually want, you won't make money.

Build Your List and use Autoresponders.

If you use autoresponders, using tracking codes on each mail (example: mail1, mail2, mail3),
will help you to see which AR's are performing better.

Then evaluate which autoresponders give you more clicks and sales and move them to higher positions.

For example:

If mail4 gives you more clicks and sales, then try to put it first in the sequence.

And once that you find a winner, you can use ChatGPT to build more similar autoresponders (using a similar angle).

Don't do everything yourself. Find experts to do the hard work for you.

Data is your best friend, track everything!

You're going to fail. Just because something doesn't work, it doesn't mean you've done anything wrong. As soon as you accept that and keep on trying, you'll be fine!
