Struggling with Conversions: Seeking Insights on Boosting Paid Subscriptions for My Chrome Extension

Hi dear digital marketers,

I have 3 years of experience in digital marketing, and I'm currently managing a Chrome extension. I generate 40+ leads through SEO and SMM organically, and all users receive a 30-day free trial. However, I'm facing a challenge: not even 1% are converting to paid subscriptions.

What strategies do you suggest to improve this conversion rate? I would appreciate your insights!

I would have to take a look at your campaign to identify what needs to be tweaked otherwise I might be guessing

We send reminder emails to users about the expiration of their 30-day free trial, and we follow up with a mail campaign offering special discounts for their first purchase.

Additionally, we're continuously promoting the extension through various channels, including SEO and social media marketing. We also update our website landing page with exclusive offers and promo codes to attract users.

I completely agree that capturing their attention during the trial is crucial, and we're focused on ensuring they see the value in our extension. If you have any specific insights or suggestions based on your experience, I'd love to hear them!

What is your profit or break even percentage?

I've promoted products that produced a very good profit at 0.5% conversion rate.

Are you near your goal or a long way off?

    Here's my three cents...

    1. Are you set up so they subscribe upfront, get the free 30 days and then have to unsubscribe or it continues?
Or they get the freebie and then you chase them?

If you're chasing them, try getting them to subscribe upfront with a 30 day free trial cancel anytime.

    2. Can you make their join a massive upgrade, like this: You get XYZ for free, but then as a valued member you get this, this and this all added on the moment you go live! (become paid).

    3. The thing is, I don't know what you app does?
    How valuable is it?
Does it change their lives or can they live without it?

Make it so valuable that they would be fools to ever let it lapse.

    Those are my suggestions.

If leads aren't converting, the issue is likely in your onboarding, pricing, or positioning.

First, ensure your users experience real value fast--guided walkthroughs or quick wins can help. Follow up with emails and in-app nudges highlighting key features, case studies, and limited-time offers. If pricing feels like a big jump, test a smaller entry-level plan or a $1 temporary upgrade.

Add an exit survey to understand objections, then tweak accordingly.

Scarcity and FOMO also work--limited-time deals or bonuses can push hesitant users over the edge. Keep testing and refining until you find the sweet spot.

    What's your pricing like?

You're bringing people in, but not enough are signing up. Make it simpler for them to get started, send out reminder emails with special offers once the trial ends, and consider running ads on Facebook or LinkedIn. Take a look at where visitors are dropping off, and experiment with different calls to action or landing pages to boost conversions.
