I listed a website on Flippa, but it got almost no views

Hi,

I posted a website on Flippa but it got almost no views.

Reserve price is 1 USD, and it's 20 days left.

It doesn't have a lot of traffic, it's just a turnkey WP blog on an old domain name.

When I had listed websites 5-10 years ago on Flippa before, they sold very quickly.

What changed? What can I do?

I am a website developer and domainer, among other things, with 25+ years
    of actual experience.

Things are much more saturated and competitive than they were ten years ago.

Unless you have some super-duper website that people have been contacting
you about, a high value domain name, or tons of sales and traffic, the days of
listing one item for sale at Flippa, or just about anywhere else, and expecting
    a sale, are OVER!

If you do not want some last minute bidder to obtain your website for $1 I highly
recommend that you increase that listing to a higher price or you might end up
    with a massive headache.

If you think there's going to be a bidding war, you should probably think again,
those old tactics don't work anymore.

You could feature your listing at Flippa for an additional fee, or hire a broker
if you really want to sell the website, and if that would be worth the effort.

If the website is generating any type of income for you, you would do better
by keeping it. But that's just IMO, I don't know anything about your situation.

Good luck with whatever you are doing.

It doesn't generate any income. I just thought instead of keeping it, maybe I can at least make a little bit of bucks by selling it. I built a blog just so it's not an empty domain name anymore.

The website is in finance (or personal finance) niche, so target audience is anyone who would like to start a website in finance niche, or an authority site in finance niche.

I thought maybe there are better marketplaces to sell websites than Flippa?

There are other website and domain name marketplaces and you can google those,
but it will be difficult to sell your website if it isn't generating income.

No offense but I don't understand why you developed a website for other people who
want to start a website when you don't seem knowledgeable about this topic.

You would do better with a niche marketing site that features Amazon products even
if it generates $200 a month you would have a better chance of a profitable website
sale than what you are doing now.

This is a business and if you are serious about selling your website, you need to
research current trends, the types of websites that are being bought and sold,
and learn the process before you proceed in the future.

        Anyway, good luck to you.

I just had an old domain name and website in finance niche some years ago. I had abandoned the project because "finance" is not my niche at that time.
I later rebuilt it (using WP which is simple) and I to sell it as "turn key" website to make some money instead of throwing it away, just like some people sell their old chairs instead of throwing it away. But I think times of selling "turn key blogs" are over.

Idk, maybe I should just try selling it in a domain name market. Or just throw it away or keep it. I kept the domain name just hoping it'll increase in value over the years but I think it didn't increase in value much.

I currently hold approx 500 domain names, my portfolio is valued at
over $1M but domains in general are a dime a dozen because 100K
domain names drop every single day. I can scan the drop list and find
high value domains all day long and I could curate another million
dollar domain portfolio in a couple of weeks.

Unless your domain is appraised by GoDaddy or the other valuation
tools at over $1K, people likely will not be interested in buying it.

Since you have already listed your website with about 20 days left to
go, consider putting something of value on it such as a calculator or
an ebook or a course that the buyer will have reseller rights to.

Do yourself a favor and start using A.I. tools, specifically ChatGPT.
It can tell you exactly what to do about your website situation as
there is a formula to developing and selling websites.

Flippa has more competition now, and turnkey blogs get less attention. Try upgrading to a Featured listing, promoting it in niche groups, and improving the description. Direct outreach to potential buyers can also help.

Things have definitely changed in the market over the last few years so some of the techniques that you've used in the past might not convert prospects into customers today .

There are several things that can be taken into factor like the demand, the audience whom you are marketing to and the actual website itself .

I would have to analyze your strategy to give you a definitive answer.
