We have sad news to report about Kay King, a long-time member and Moderator of the Warrior Forum.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the loss of a beautiful, feisty, fiercely independent, kind, and caring woman. Kay King passed away.

Do not mourn her passing, she would not want that, but instead, please carry on her memory by doing the things she loved to do! Trail ride at Nation Road Stable, work out at Anytime Fitness, support no-kill animal shelters, plant flowers, do some cooking, read books, and in general, stay active in both mind and body.
We asked that you celebrate her life."

The Warrior Forum suggests if you would like to honor Kay, please consider donating to the charity listed in Kay's posts - https://www.pawsofwar.org/.

Thank you.

This is just devastating. I heard yesterday and I'm still numb.

For so many years, and especially since the takeover, Kay has been the voice, the heart and the soul of the Warrior forum.

    She leaves an unfillable void.

When I heard the news about 24 hours ago, sadness came over me that hasn't let up yet. This is strange because I've never been to Kay's house or met her in person. But she's been a big part of my life for several years. Hundreds of communications about life, about the forum, and about business for years will do that.

Even though the current mods started on the same day and we were all equal, Kay was the leader from the get-go. She had a way about her that commanded respect while creating lasting friendships. She cared deeply about the forum and its members and spent an untold amount of time doing what she could to help. She was the ultimate Warrior.

Kay, thank you for everything. May peace be with you and yours forever.

Kay was probably one of the most dedicated members of the forum. One might consider her the Unofficial voice of the forum. Helping various members here, the different Admins along the way, and contributing here knowledge in various posts.

Kay loved nature and Animals, helping out at a farm and visiting horses, or being with her pets. You could tell in the Off-Topic section, that she enjoyed the holidays and her family. She will be missed around here.

    Rest in Peace Kay.

  • This is truly devastating news.

You don't see many North Stars these days -- holding the line with diligence, compassion and expertise.

We're all worlds apart in this forum of dreams, and Kay's no-nonsense kindness made you wonder ...

if I saw her in a bar ...

one face out of many ...

would I be charmed to gaze upon her?

    And head over?

    I believe so.

As forum dwellers, we lose her from afar.

We cannot know whose closeness to Kay matters more tangibly and immediately.

So I would wish to send love to those people, whomsoever they may be.

    Damn.

A person of reason and fairness. A real loss to this forum, and I'm sure a tragic loss to everyone who knew her.

    Her voice will be missed.

you know i always didn't see eye to eye with Kay but there is one thing that i always thought was an incredible and endearing trait of her's : FAIRNESS

For me at least, that epitomizes what it means to be a great human being.

I am truly devastated. Such a long standing person In our lives and the forums, and to hear that she's suddenly gone!?. She had a sharp, intelligent mind and wit and will be sorely missed. Thoughts to her family and friends.

I can only ponder what took her off so suddenly. She always indicated that she had an active life, doing fitness and horse riding etc. It sounds like it was quick and she did not suffer any long term pain. That to me would be a blessing and the way I would prefer to go.

    RIP Kay.

yeah it said in her obituary online that she suffered a massive stroke last Friday. So i assume she went unconscious into a comma and probably suffered very little if at all.

Truly weird not having her in these parts anymore. For so many years, she was a big part of many of our lives in the very best way

Kay's passing took so much time to sink in. She wasn't just a moderator to me. She was like a friend. When I came in, Kay showed me the ropes. Her passing affected me in a way where I don't even know how to run this forum anymore.

Kay was our beacon. She was our lighthouse. Her loss is insurmountable, but I know Kay's here to remind Shane about his manners, or that I have to make sure the forum is in shape.

Kay, thank you for everything. Thank you for teaching me patience, for teaching me how to persevere during times when I think this forum's not worth it anymore. Thank you.

    Until we meet again.

I've been away from the forum for a long time, and only just returned by chance, to see this message about Kay. She was a long-time member, here as long as I can remember - and I joined a long time ago. It's hard to put into words how much her presence meant to this community. Kay was a guiding force, always there with wisdom, support, and a genuine care for everyone. Even though I didn't interact with her as much, her impact was undeniable. This is a huge loss, and my thoughts go out to all who were lucky enough to know her better.

I've also been away from the forum for a while, and just happened to peek in. I poke my head in here about once a year. This forum used to be my home away from home. I still like stopping by and seeing many of the recognizable names still keeping this place going. It's those names that make this place always feel like I'm back home when I stop in. Kay was on the top of the list of the names I'd look for. Time is a thief. Thank you Kay for your service here. This place will not be the same.

While her absence will be surely missed, anyone who has invested any time on this forum knows and respects that she was as straight-forward as they come. Her insights, knowledge, and contributions here on the WF will remain a major part of her dedication to helping others in a vast range of topics.

One thing I personally respected and loved about Kay was her ability to tell it like it is, and not hold back if you were out-of-line or simply expressed a bias or an opinion without thinking your posts/responses through first... I know I've felt the sting of her intelligence whenever she addressed some of my 'less than' formidable posts.

Thereto, she showed respect and support to those who were actually applying, trying, or willing to invest in both themselves and the community here.

My condolences to all who mourn her loss, and are celebrating her life. Surely, she will be greatly missed here on the forum.

I for one remain grateful for all that she contributed to this community!

How sad. I can't pop in as often as I used to but I always looked forward to Kay's posts. She was never extreme on any issue and had a way to convey kindness and balance even when she disagreed with someone. She was the type of person you would want as a next door neighbor. She had great respect here and that is because she earned it. This is a great loss for WF. Condolences to her family and close loved ones.

P.S. I am late on hearing this news but it was comforting to read all the comments from all of you. Your comments were heartfelt and described her perfectly. Thank you for taking the time to honor her.

Wow. I definitely remember her posts over the years, especially when this forum was very popular. This totally sucks to hear of her passing.

I wish her family all the best and I hope to learn as much as I can from all the wisdom and knowledge she left here over the years.

There's a lot to learn, so I'll be doing a deep dive for a long long time... thanks for all that you did and left behind Kay King. Rest in power.

    RIP Kay.

No insincerity here but not a bad way to go from my experience with this among my own relatives. I just pray that she was totally incapacitated and unconscious right after it occurred
