Is Amazon KDP a good field to start in?

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and I really appreciate the valuable information you all share here.
Recently, I heard about fields like Amazon KDP, and I'm trying to understand if it's actually a good option to start with -- especially for someone like me who's looking for a way to balance studying and earning some income online.

If KDP is a good and reliable field, that would be great. But if it's not really worth it, I'd really appreciate it if those with experience could guide me in the right direction from the beginning.

I'm looking for fields that I can learn without paid courses and work in using just basic tools (my laptop and phone).
Any advice or recommendations would mean a lot. Please don't hesitate to share your knowledge -- thank you and thank you again

IMO Amazon KDP is saturated and not a good place to
    start for newbies.

If you are an expert at something and have a following,
and/or know how to promote things, then it might be a
good fit, but if you are just going to add to the rambling
void with no expertise, then no.

I will assume that you are young so I recommend you
get busy using A.I. Ask ChatGPT to assess your skills
and recommend ways that you can monetize them.

Use other A.I. to do other things such as generating
images and videos and figure out how to make money
    doing that.

There are hundreds of ways to make money online,
find something that is actually profitable and don't do
what millions of other people are already doing.

When the Warrior Book Club section of the forum was popular, you might have had a chance to make good money on KDP.

As stated above, it's a very saturated market, where people use AI-written garbage to load Amazon KDP with junk. If you can not stand out from the crowd, KDP will not be worth any time you invest in it.

I don't believe KDP success can come these days based solely on Amazon's internal marketing efforts. Many people that succeed have websites, partners/affiliates, backend product(s), funnels, email and social marketing, and some use expensive trailers (for the book, just like a movie has a trailer), etc.

Even if you didn't make any money, though, you could try it out as part of your learning. Most things probably won't make money in the beginning, so learning what works and what doesn't is important. Having a KDP book can help in this regard even if you never make a cent. The experience can add to your growth.

There are people making a fortune on KDP today...right now.

And there are courses you can get on Youtube that will teach you just about anything you need to learn.

But it isn't a matter of "Is KDP a good place to make money?".

You have to know what you are going to write about...to create books that sell.

You have to know what subjects sell, and what subjects almost never sell at all.

You'll have to learn what book titles will grab attention. So you'll have to learn how to write captivating headlines...that attract readers that buy books.

Don't use AI to write a book. Nobody will buy that book. The first thing is to write a quality book about something you know about...or fiction.

Now...if the question is "Can I make money after reading a few articles about selling books on KDP?"...No, it's not a good place to start.

It's like any business...any way to make money..

You have to take the time to be knowledgeable...and you have to be willing to fail on your first few attempts.

One good thing is that you can publish Kindle and paperback books on Amazon...literally for free. And they pay you about 40% of what is sold....they even print to books for you, unless they are downloaded.

But, can you write? Do you know how to market books on Amazon?
Do you know how to find out what sells? Will you stick to it long enough to make the same mistakes everyone else makes, before they figure it out?

It can be profitable but don't expect to make millions so soon. Unless you are lucky enough to discover a niche that has good demand and low competition.

Of course amazon kdp is a good field to start in, my friend uses it as his side hustle and is making so much money from it just from publishing 15 books only. If you have the knowledge you should definitely start it or you can get a course and lean about it.

Juggling studies and a side hustle? Totally doable-and you don't need to spend a dime to get started. If you've got a laptop or even just your phone, you're good to go.

One solid option is Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). It's free to use and lets you publish e-books or print-on-demand books that can bring in passive income. Heads-up though-it takes a bit of learning to get the hang of formatting, design, and marketing if you want your stuff to stand out.

If you're looking for quicker wins or want to mix things up, try designing print-on-demand merch, doing micro-gigs on Upwork or Fiverr, or diving into content creation on YouTube or TikTok.

Best move? Pick one thing that actually excites you, set a chill first goal (like dropping your first journal or making your first $10), and plug into free communities on Reddit or Facebook to get tips and stay motivated.

Keep track of your time and earnings, don't be afraid to pivot if something's not clicking, and lean on free YouTube tutorials and legit guides instead of dropping cash on pricey courses.
