Forums = Content/Keywords/Market = Advertising

Just trying to do some creative thinking here to create something that will be long term. I want to do this right from the start.
Thinking of putting up a free membership forum, doing some articles (lots of different areas in this niche = lots of articles) to start driving some traffic and let the traffic build me some good content. This content will not only help with ranking but will also let me know what this markets questions and concerns are. After several months of building traffic and content, I take this info and use to get an ebook/ebooks written so that I will have a product/products to sell.
I will then sell ad space to professionals that would love to cater to this high dollar market. This thing would continue to build over time and this is a niche that really needs and wants this.

I know I am leaving a lot out but looking for some input here to see that I am going in the right direction.

    A membership site using wordpress would be better than a forum - it requires a lot of traffic to get an active forum going and even then you have to keep it active...

    It would be easier to build a list by giving them access to your membership site (wordpress) then sell your products to that list via email

    jbode is right...and I would add, if you want to build a forum, STOP! Build a list first.

    Then, after your reach whatever number...2000 or 10000...up to you...start your forum and then guide your list readers over to that forum. Keep both going and you'll do better than if you just started a bare forum from ground level.

    But start that list first.

    Setting up a forum is time consuming and definitely not easy for
    a beginner.

    But if you have already made a couple of thousands, you can hire freelancers
    to setup and do all the seo stuff for you.


    this is definitely a nice area to make passive income.

    There is a lot of searches done for this niche and is a very much needed one. I have several article published through EZA. A couple of them have landed some nice first page Google positions that have been holding well for a couple of months now. People searching for this info are usually in desperate need of it and they will welcome a free forum that they can come to and share their fears and thoughts.

    My son has had a forum/bb for around 4 - 5 years now and has a fairly large membership. He will help me set this up and suggest that we use phpbb in Fantastico.
    A good forum/bb will create its own content that will keep the SE's crawling on a regular basis. I think this will give me other keywords that I can focus own with other articles and/or ebooks.

    "if you want to build a forum, STOP! Build a list first." How would you go about this without first having a resource that will have them opting in? Offer a free report or ebook would be the only way that I can think of to do this but you first have to have a place for them want to go to.

    I know that this will all take time but anything that is worth pursuing will.
