In the Adult niche? Care to answer a Q?

How are you driving traffic? Articles are pretty much out of the question, PPC costs a lot, etc. Are you using traffic programs? Video sites to drive traffic, etc.? Can you at least tell me what you're not doing?

I don't personally work in the niche but have done somee work for clients that were in the niche. In regards to articles, look at something in the industry that is locally happening such as a new movie being released or you can always set up videos branded with your website and start spreading them on torrents. There are also adult video sites out there kinda like an adult youtube you can send vids to as well. Hope that helps.

    Edit:

Not to mention organic traffic from google.

    1) Organic SEO

    2) Traffic trades with similar niche sites

    3) Putting together high enough quality that the pages/posts/etc. get shared and making it extremely easy for users to bookmark.

I've never had much luck with topsites, and have never paid for adult traffic. Some directories are worth exploring, especially ones that screen out automatic content.

Adult blogs. I actually find it much easier to get organic search traffic for all sorts of random longtail keywords than it is for a non-adult blog. I guess that a lot of people are constantly searching for variations of the "same few phrases", so if you use some descriptive titles and language some of those searches will hit on target.

One blog will probably not make you a lot of cash through that method. But if you treat them as microniche minisites and build a network of blogs you can do alright.

That is a good post right there. Go niche to be sure. Far less competition and easier to get ranked. Now, that said, conversions on adult sites are MUCH lower than mainstream sites.

Tube sites are killing Adult revenue.

I wouldn't try to swim upstream.

You have to pick a microniche that people would have to spend hours digging through a Tube site to find. Generic content is pretty pointless right now.

One way I like to drive traffic to my adult sites is by using Adult Web 2.0 properties (Yes... they exist). Just like mainstream, there are free adult blog hosts, digg-style sites, and social bookmarking sites. Sure, you cant create a squidoo lens or hubpage, but you CAN create a thumblogger blog or blogbugs blog (just to name a couple).

You are right... there aren't any "article directories", but there are a few "erotic story" sites that you can use in the same way you would use an article directory.

I would ask you to PM me so I can direct you to a great forum (where I learned everything I know), but unfortunately, the forum has tanked- for a lack of better words.

Just as others have said, you have to dig really deep into a niche to make a profit. I'm talking REALLY deep. Some of my best paying niches only get searched about 200-300 times per month.

You may also have to step out of your comfort zone and promote niches that you normally wouldn't even glance at. I have absolutely 0 interest in about 95% of the adult niches I have promoted.

It's also important to find a sponsor that isn't too "saturated".

If you have money to invest, I would buy exclusive content and use that content to promote good sponsors in your niche.

Perhaps post youtube videos that are sexy but not over the youtube line, and link back to your site.

Just an idea as I've seen it done.

I know a lot of companies (big companies) have videos on YouPorn, Redtube, etc etc etc... upload trailers and then have a link back their site.

I'm not sure how effective it is but these seem to be big companies who hire serious talent to do the shoots... so I'm guessing they have a stake in success.

I considered producing a PLR pack of a particular subniche at one point, but decided not to go forward with it because I wasn't sure who around here would buy it. I've only seen adult PLR WSO's produced like twice. It's a very lucrative subniche, but all things considered, I'd rather put work into making it profit myself than selling someone on the idea that it will profit >

I'll be happy to ghostwrite something for you if you're interested. Due to the content though rates would be higher than my usual, but if you want we can work something out.

Thanks for the response, I actually meant VIDEO content though, should have been more specific. I was replying to the previous post about using video content

There are a TON of producers for video content that you can buy.

Also many, if not most, affiliate programs these days have free hosted videos and pics you can link for use in your blog, MGP and TGP.

Lots of different ways to attack the adult niche. Check out place like YNOT dot com, Oprnao dot com, Xnations dot com and others and many people there will help you out and/or have links to content producers, adult hosts, etc.. etc..

Also, be sure you learn what is required for record keeping under the 2257 laws.

    @Andrew Maule

There are content originators at Netpond's forum; plenty of content available there across all genres.

Not sure of linking policy so will just say do a Google search for "Netpond adult" and it's right there on page one.
