Wordpress Or Standard CMS Site?

Gday folks

Im about to start looking into designs for my new site and was wondering if i should just go a static site where i can upDate with a CMS or just get a wordpress site built.

I will be using it for, adding text and video logs which will be updated weekly. I require certain static pages, a blog roll, logo etc and of course im after easy to make updates.

Im leaning towards WP because because i have used it before, its easy to update, it can be used as a static site or blog, or even both + most coders know how to build and design for it.

???

From what you are saying Wordpress is the way to go. But, I guess you had already figured that out by yourself... :p

    Good luck in your endeavours!

I'd definitely say go with Wordpress.

When most people think of "Wordpress", they automatically assume "Blog". However, Wordpress is much more than just a blogging platform!

If you are still on the fence, just install wordpress in a folder
    Code:
    (something like: www.yoursite.com/blog)
That way, you can still go the non-wordpress route. If you realize Wordpress is the right fit for you after-all, have your main index.html file forward visitors to the /blog folder.

I'm not sure where you are as far as your level of technical knowledge, so I hope that made sense... I tried making it as un-technical as possible. Let me know if you need some clarification.

Wordpress will also be a lot easier on the pocketbook than a decent CMS. Also better for SEO than most inexpensive CMS options.

Wordpress... hands down. You are comfortable working with it and it will do everything you need it to do. Good luck!

No question Wordpress and it can become more like a CMS with some of the newer neat themes out there.
Have a look at WPREMIX which is a wordpress CMS style theme that doesn't look like a blog and do a search for "wordpress theme cms" in google for other examples
