Noobie requesting a bit of advice

Hi Everyone,

I was just looking for a bit of advice / re-assurance please I've only been doing IM for a week and I have managed to get my blog ranked on the 4th page of google out of 8,590,000 and my site only got indexed at the start of the week.

I've been link building etc and just wanted to know if anyone could tell me how long it takes for my ranking to settle down? I began the week on page 10 of the SERP's so the move to page 4 was pretty huge!

When should I expect being able to look at my site on the rankings and know its not going to make any more wild swings up or down.

Because the site is so new it will swing up and down for a while. Keep working on your backlinks and don't worry about the rankings just now. If you keep building links the rankings will follow suit.

  • Thanks Pete! I wasn't sure how long it would take to settle, like I say I'm more or less new to the world of internet marketing and this is my first site promoting a clickbank product. I was actually quite shocked I even appeared on page 10 let alone page 4 today!

Yeah man don't waste too much time looking at the ranking of your site. You should spend your time doing exactly what you are doing now, and eventually the site will go up in the rankings.

Also, I don't know if your affiliate links are cloaked, but if they aren't, they should be. If you cloak your links that one step could get you a lot higher in the search results.

If you don't know how to cloak your links, the easiest way is to buy a domain at Godaddy.com. Buy a .info domain because it is cheap and you just want to redirect it. As I just stated, after buying the .info domain, redirect that link to go to your affiliate link. Go back to your webpage and put that new .info domain name in place of the affiliate link. That should help with your page rankings.

well done you have done in a week what it took me to achieve in 18 months but i am very lazy. If you keep working hard you will be able to make a decent income for yourself.

  • Thanks for the encouragement guys! I have cloaked my links, I'm following the google sniper course and basically got the first site up at the weekend. I figured from the forums that even though in the sniper guide he said you didn't need backlinks to get ranked it couldn't hurt.

I got Angela's backlink service and spent the time going through it and adding backlinks last night. I definately recommend it as I think it may be directly responsible for my 6 page jump overnight
