Hi Fellow Warriors,

I'm officially leaving Ezine Articles for another directory. Why? Just read all the other posts on this forum about EZA.

Can someone tell me which directory ranks better in the search engines, Go Articles or Article Base?

Thanks,
Christie

Go articles ranks just as well but most people use EZA because of the temporary surge of targeted traffic.

If you want targeted traffic I would continue to use EZA

If you are building back links and want to rank organically on google Go articles is a good choice.

i submit to alot of them but nothing will push as much traffic to your site as EZA.

What are you frustrated about with them?

Why pay attention to other posts?? Have you had problems?

I still submit articles every day to eza, recently started using other site but no other site yet gives me the results EZA does. Once they do i'll go else where but until then I'll use what ever methods work for me

Its a shame they post duplicate content and multiple copies of PLR articles. I see articlebase going downhill fast soon, their quality is terrible.

EZA is also posting PLR articles. I found quite a few PLR articles
published on EZA by some very fast guys and gals.
Obviously, they submit their PLR articles the same second they are
released by their providers, while copyscape still says they are unique.

It's not about who ranks better in the search engines, it is about how effectively you can market your article and build quality backlinks to it to keep top listings. The fact is anyone can be kicked out of top rank, even if they are a PR 8 or an authority site or whatever...

What ranks better in the search engines though should be your own site...

I would pay NO attention whatsoever to the vast majority of whinging that goes on here about EZA. I haven't had any major problems that would make me want to turn to another article directory. Sure I get the odd article refused for whatever reason - I just put those articles on my own site and move on. Articlesbase would be my next choice but doesn't come close to EZA.

I didn't take it that way. My understanding was that she meant for the OP to go by her own experience instead of the experiences of others.

I'm not implying anything of the sort - what I'm actually saying is maybe rather than dismissing EZA because of what other people are saying, the OP should decide based on her own experience. I've come across very few people who write quality articles and abide by their TOS that have a problem with them. Of course there are a few overzealous editors there (I've come across a few myself) and not all the rules are to everyone's liking, but any serious article marketer will see that they are still far superior to every other directory.

And what business is it of yours what philosophy I apply to other aspects of my life? I thought this thread was about EZA.

It is what it is. Like the others EZA is the best for traffic of any of the other directories, bar none. Doesn't mean you can't be successful using Go Articles for instance, but you're cutting off 50% or more of your potential traffic if you ignore EZA.

    Just my opinion.

Wow, thanks for all the information.

Actually, the information I've read on the forum regarding EZA is a reincarnation of the situations I've experienced with them.

Here's one thing that baffles me. I tested their article review consistency by submitting articles from a writer who, English is not their first language (and it showed) with articles written by a well-spoken, seasoned English writer.

The non-English speaking writer's articles were approved. The English speaking writer's articles were rejected. Go figure.

This example was conducted on two different accounts.

Also, when I canceled my subscription, a few minutes later, my account was temporarily suspended.

These are just a few of the experiences I've had with EZA.

After reading the posts, I've decided to try them again, while also using another article directory. I guess the moral to my story is that we should never put all our eggs in one basket and work to diversity our internet business. No one, except ourselves, should have that much authority over how much money we make.

Buzzle is pretty good for both traffic and rankings, but you can only have 3 articles in "pending" state, you only get 1 link and it can take forever to get an article approved. Plus if they don't approve your article they just delete it - no email or anything!

If you want to be able to have more control over where you put links in your article and not be afraid of getting rejected for stupid reasons, then I suggest you give both website-articles.net and articleproductions.com a try.

The non-English speaking writer's articles were approved. The English speaking writer's articles were rejected. Go figure.
I have experienced this myself occasionally, my own were rejected due to "stupid" minor errors - why some non-native speaker's articles were published, articles which read AWFUL and where i have no idea how they got accepted.

BUT....i still think you're blowing this out of proportion. Those editor's are just HUMANS and no robots, acceptance might depend on your particular editor THAT DAY, their mood, etc..etc... its perfectly NORMAL, imho. Nothing to freak out over, just edit and re-submit. Some are strict, some less strict etc...

EZA can be somewhat annoying, but they do drive great traffic, so they should be on your list of article directories that you submit to.

One major issue that EZA does need to respond to is that their quality standards don't seem to be applied uniformly. I was looking at some articles last night and I ran across a few that were obviously PLR that had been run through article spinning software. They were almost unreadable, so badly cobbled together they were.

The other thing to keep in mind is that EZA is a business. They're out to make money, the same as all of us, and to that extent, they're going to do whatever is necessary to protect their business model and to increase revenue.

This is pretty embarrassing for Google, if you ask me.

I find this at EZA, GA, AB and a few other directories that Google has latched onto.

On the flip side, some of the directories that aren't given the time of day (by Google) have nothing but kickass quality, original articles.

Say one thing - do another. Go figure.

Sometimes EZA really doesn't make sense, they denied one of my articles because it pointed to a review site on 'Google Sniper'. According to them, they can't accept any articles pertaining to Google Sniper. So I kindly asked for a list of the products I can't talk about since I couldn't find them on the editorial guidelines. They told me they didn't have any list available!

That makes me believe they just pick and choose like "yeah, we'll accept that category but we won't take that one."

Either way, I get tons of traffic from EZA so I can't fight city hall...

My problem with EZA is that there are so many other people submitting that if you write an article in a competitive niche it only stays on the "Other Recent EzineArticles from the _____ Category:" list a day or two.

I don't want to spend all week trying to create backlinks to an article that is not on my site.

Or sending a ton of traffic to EZA to make the "Most Viewed".

So unless you are writing articles in a category that nobody else is writing in, EZA is only good for some backlinks.

With that in mind, why would I want to go through the "editor" problem and wait two weeks to get a backlink.

If only that were true In the categories I submit to(some saturated, some not), I'm happy to stay on the 'recently added' list for a couple of hours. Even with the not so competitive niches, it's rare to stay there for any more than 8-12 hours.

i an honestly say after 700 submissions I rarely have a problem. I just make sure to do the following

do not keyword stuff the title

    keep keyword density to 1%

do not use filler content just to get word count up

use excessive anchor text in the resource box

always link to a relevant site

do not redirect from a sub domain

provide useful tips not a rambling paragraph of nothing.

    keep paragraphs to 3 sentences

that has worked for me and honestly i barely get an article rejected.

People talk like ezine is the only article site that gives annoying reasons for not approving your articles.

Well, articlesbase did the same thing with me. At least whenever I email ezine they always email back. Articlesbase gave a stupid reason (said it wasn't originial content, that I was submitting each article all about the same subject and only changing a few words, which was completely untrue. Yes, all the articles used similar keywords but each article was written uniquely by me, without any spinning of any sort.) and then when I challenged their wrong assessment I got zero response. None, nada.

Article directories are just pretty annoying. How about just putting them on your own site and using web 2.0 properties! That works just as well. But whenever you are using someone else's site to drive traffic, your content can be removed at any time for no reason, whether using an article directory or web 2.0 properties. Nothing's safe.

      Couldn't agree with you more.

I think EZA is highly overrated! They take forever to give your article the green light by which time you could have had your article ranked in Google, got traffic and sales with other sites.

I write documents and upload to Scribd (see my signature report) and have a very quick ranking in Google.

      Hi,
eza definately gets a lot users frustrated. I would recommend either goarticles or articlebase as they are roughly comparable in their rankings, but if you are looking for another alternative i strongly recommend hubpages and google knol. With both of these directories you have a lot more ability to customize your articles and if your looking for traffic that will buy things through your article links then these are a much better way to go while submitting some welll spun articles to goarticles and articlebase to give you more flow. If you are just looking for backlinks then it would be best to stick with eza and then maybe spin some articles between goarticles and articlebase to give you more links and quality content.

I have mixed feelings about EZA, ya they are great initially but with the huge influx of article marketer these days, my use of EZA has dropped because

    1. They take forever to approve articles now (and I ain't paying for premium just to get articles approved..sorry EZA)
    2. Unless your backlinking, pumping cheap banner traffic, twitter posts etc on the article they drop off the traffic feeds pretty fast. Geez if I have to spend that much time just for a few hits and a backlink, I'd rather boost my own site

    Just my 2cent rants

EZA does take some time....but until I find a better alternative it is what we have. For a couple of weeks we get a big traffic boost and after that plenty of high quality anchor text link juice.

Not sure I really see much reason to complain. Waiting sucks, but what can you do?
