Need SEO & Lead Generation Advice for Local Service Business

Hi everyone,

I'm working on improving the SEO and lead generation for a local service business website and I would really appreciate some guidance from the experienced members here.

We have already done a lot of the basics:
• on-page SEO
• improving page structure and content
• voice search optimization
• keyword coverage
• internal linking
• publishing blogs
• new services pages
• fixing technical issues on the site

We are ranking for some keywords and getting traffic, but the leads and conversions are still very low. We're not sure if the issue is content, funnel structure, user experience, or maybe we are focusing on the wrong keywords.

My questions are:

What are the most effective strategies today for local service businesses to get more leads?

Are we missing something obvious on the SEO or lead funnel side?

Is there anything you would improve or change after checking the site?

Any advice on what we should focus on next? Backlinks, landing pages, conversion rate optimization, or local citations?

This business provides residential and commercial assembly services, things like furniture assembly, gym equipment installation, TV mounting, garage storage, pergolas, basketball hoops, and more. They serve Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia, and surrounding areas.

I'm not here to sell anything. I'm here because I want to learn from people who have more experience in SEO and lead generation.

Thank you in advance for anyone who can share tips or feedback. Every suggestion is appreciated.

If their website needed all of those improvements, it would have
been better to develop a whole new website, and hopefully that
    is what happened.

For local business, a website is just one part of their advertising,
    it shouldn't be everything.

The business owner that is operating in multiple states should be
advertising locally, and there should be limits to what you provide,
you cannot bring them all of their business.

The only thing I see missing is Google business:

Have you set up the Google Business Profile? Make sure it links to the website. Add plenty of photos to the Business profile and keep updating it. Do you take videos of some of the work being done? It would be a good idea to create short videos and post them on YouTube and the Facebook Page. Make sure everything links back to the website.

You've done the SEO basics well, so the low leads are likely a conversion issue, not traffic. Focus on high-intent local keywords, clear CTAs, easy quote or booking forms, and trust signals like reviews and real job photos. Optimize Google Business Profile with posts and reviews, create location-specific landing pages, and consider Local Service Ads. Prioritize conversion rate optimization over more traffic, then build local backlinks and citations. Make it easy for visitors to see your services, pricing, and contact you quickly, this will turn visits into leads.
So, these tips maybe helpful for you, TRY NOW....!

If it's local services, put LSA first, then city + service pages and an ultra-short form with photo upload. We connected call tracking and optimized only for calls longer than 45 seconds. The Optisearch agency organized the schema, Maps, and LSA campaigns; the growth came from adding a "book a 2-hour window" option on mobile.

    1. Firstt optimize the GBP. Do some high quality local citations, optimize the service and location pages by aligning with user intent, optimize your content by connecting entities, check reviews from GBP and collect entities from there and put it on the website etc.
    2. I would you to do a funnel analysis to check where users are actually dropping off then take strategic decision by aligning with seo.
    3. Definitely after checking the site I can provide you more strategic insights
    4. Do not think of backlinks right now but yes you can do some PRs, citations etc.

Your local market may be already saturated
with the proposals from your competitors.

Have you compared (in the search results) your
positions with the positions of your competitors?

Have you compared your incoming links
with the incoming links of your competitors?

    Have you compared your prices
with the prices of your competitors?
