How to select keywords for article marketing

Hi Guys,

I just want to know how you choose keywords while writing articles, if you would like to share.

I normally do not get more than 50 longtail keywords in a niche but I want to write more than 100 articles in that niche.

So how do I get more than 100 long tail keywords in a niche?

I find that SEMRush - service for competitors research, shows Google organic and AdWords keywords for any site or domain really helps me with keyword research when I need a lot of words. I often will use the results from it and put them into market samurai for more information.

I've been using Wonderwheel the past few weeks to find relevant keywords. It's really neat. I don't have any results to post yet - I'll let ya know.

I'd love to know what others are doing? I've been told to use Market Samurai (which I tried for the first time last night), but who knows if I'm looking at the right parameters.

What are the "experts" using? What are you folks looking for to choose good keywords? The Google Keyword tool seems like a good start, but others indicate they want to know the competition of the keywords?

Here's a cool 'long tail' tool I use... Keyword Questions by Wordtracker:

People often type questions into search engines. Now you can find these questions, answer them and get some great search traffic. You'll be targeting long tail keywords and providing content that readers want to read and link to.

I try to keep everything simple. I used to check competition and all types of things, but now I just use the google keyword tool and build a list of 200 to 400 keywords. Then, I just go through and write about the ones that make sense and that are long tail. This has worked very well for me and saves me so much time from checking all the stats.

You never know which keyword might work well for you so I try to just cover all my bases and write about as many of them as I can.

Yeah Google wonderwheel is definitely good especially for LSI

it gives you lots and lots of related keyword phrases to use by just clicking on it..Though you still have to analyze each keyword phrase it if you want to rank for those..

Just getting keyword ideas for articles is easy..but ranking for those keyword phrases is another thing.

    All the best,

I have been using Market Samurai most of the time, it keeps everything in one place, allows you to save, export, compare, publish.. work in projects you name it, it does it.

If I just want to do a quick bit of research the google external keyword tool always comes in handy.
