Have you tried the usual sources, like stock.xchng and istockphoto.com with no luck?

yes, sxc.hu is what i usually use, but unfortunately it doesn't really provide useful images.

it may be though that i use a poor choice of keywords when searching for photos.

i did a google search just after starting this thread and saw a list of ten sites, two of which i know and use so i'm gonna check out the others.

cheers - i actually did a google search and came across a few of these.

a lot of the sites i came across with are license free but you need to buy the image in order to use, without the watermarked logo.

i started this thread to see if anyone could provide a known site like sxc.hu but better (to avoid doing the research ).

i think the list i got from the url i recently posted is sufficient to filter for now.

Don't forget flickr's Commercially licensed images...use the advanced search to specify what rights you require. Generally you will have to attribute the photo to the photographer.

The morgue files might still be under maintenance, but I believe they are the best - certainly the largest public domain file I've seen yet.

bigstockphoto.com is a good resource and they have a wide variety of good photos. It's worth the $1 - $2.00 you spend for teh image.

    Hope that helps!

    hey guys,
can pics/images purchasedfor such sites suggested above be put onto flickr?

i understand that you can you the photos on your blogs but does flick count as a blog? technically it's a photo blogsite, right? or am i bending the truth here?

also, would you recommend doing so - i mean with people being able to use it freely and whatnot?
