Tag Clouds are sometimes a very, very bad idea

Think using Tag Clouds are always cool? Not when it's regarding customer support.

I assume they're aware of this because they're a technology company, but check out the Tag Cloud on the right side of NewEgg's customer service forum:

EggXpert - Shopping EggXperience

I'll save you the trouble of clicking, here it is in full:

annoyance bad experience bad experience bad egg complaint Customer Loyalty customer service customer support delivery DHL disapointed experiencing problems Help newegg newegg customer service not happy order status rant RMA shipping issues Suggestions UPS

A couple points:

1) It's ballsy of them them (or a mistake) to put up a Popular Tags Cloud on their customer support page! Make sure you're not auto-generating yourself a similar disservice on your own sites

2) NewEgg is actually supposed to be quite high in customer service and customer satisfaction. Who goes to customer service boards and complains? The people with problems, that's who. Complaints don't doesn't automatically make the seller a "bad egg". (pun intended)

Either way, I wonder if they're aware of their customer support tag cloud. If it were me... I'd remove it. What good does it do?

    • Heh, that's new. MAN, that tag cloud is a bad move...
  • Personally I never use tag clouds, I don't see the need for them, plus they take valuable $$$ space.

Anyone here actually use or like them?

You may have heard of this guy, his name is Allen Says. The site is the Warrior Forum.
