Articles and duplicate content?

Hi guys I was just wondering if you have articles on your own site and use articles to promote that site do you recommend that the articles be different or could you just submit the articles from your site to article directories like a week later?

I'm concerned about duplicate content I wouldn't want to shoot myself in the foot.

    You should not be concerned about duplicate content in the scenario you describe.

    Re-publishing of content, otherwise known as syndication, is perfectly fine and should be encouraged.

      You can submit same articles to other content sites too.

      Google just drops the pages with duplicate content from search results and presents most appropriate pages.
