Free Report for Site Flippers: How to Transfer Sites From One Host to Another

Hi

Due to many people asking questions about how to transfer sites from one host to another after they sell a site, I've updated my Flip Ace product to include very detailed instructions on how to do this with many screenshots.

But I've also created that portion of the ebook as a standalone ebook that I'm giving away here on the Warrior Forum for free.

You can download it at http://flipace.com/transfer.pdf

I hope you find it useful and complete.

Thank you, Suzanne. I'll be transferring some sites and wondered
exactly how it's done. Appreciate it very much.

No problem. It looks complicated, but once you've done it, it's pretty simple. Takes me about 15 - 20 minutes to transfer a site usually.

Thank you for that excellent step by step guide. I come from the Windows server world so it really helps to better understand how cpanel operates.

I wonder if you could clarify two points.

The first point is about how DNS works.

Here is my understanding and please correct me if I'm wrong. If a DNS server near you already knows how to look up a site, then the DNS query does not go any farther. If your friendly neighborhood DNS server doesn't have a clue, it asks another DNS server farther away. Eventually the query winds up with your DNS registrar and they give the answer.

If you continue to the use the Internet in your same region, chances are pretty good that the next time you look up that domain name, a DNS server near you has the address cached and can just reuse their previous answer.

If you reassign the domain name to a different web host, the registrar tells the servers near it, "Hey guys, y'know this old address for this name? Fuhgeddaboutit! Just ask me!" And it can take a day or two for that message to flush out the old address and replace it with a new one.

Am I on the right track here?

My second question is about namecheap. Do they require financial information to create an account? What if your domain buyer is wary about giving their card number or banking information to your registrar?

Boy, that's a mouthful. As for the technical aspects of how browsers look for DNS, I don't know. I do know that when I changed nameservers, it is usually instant. It can take up to 24 hrs for a domain to resolve, but that depends on where in the world you are. Someone from India may not be able to log in to their wordpress backend for 24 hrs, while I can do it right away ... usually. A couple of times, I could not log in for 24 hrs and had to wait to finish up the installation.

Namecheap does not require financial info if I remember correctly. They go on a pre-payment model. You purchase credits and can use a credit card or paypal to purchase them and then purchases are made with your credits.

I think it would be helpful to add this paragraph to your guide.

Thanks for answering my long-winded questions.

Good idea. I just revised it and added that in. Can be confusing to some when they install and then can't log in to the back end of Wordpress.

Thanks. I have read lots of web flipping reports, and they rarely tell you how to transfer.
