3 Favourite Ways, or Best Ways of Generating Traffic?

I've been struggling to get traffic lately, and I wanted some tips. Right now my traffic is coming from these 3 places...

1. Blog Comments
2. Forums
3. Various communities

They don't generate me as much traffic as I'd like =\ I'm gonna have to work on them a little more, I guess. Any more ideas, or strategies?

Update:
I have traffic coming in from Twitter, articles, and a lot more now =) Thanks!

New:
So what do you guys think would be better for SEO? Blogging, or Vlogging?

    How about...

    1. web 2.0 properties combined with article marketing
    2. twitter, facebook, etc. without spamming
    3. Paid traffic (you'll get your traffic but can you convert it?)

The third one is more advanced and is for down the road.

    2.0 properties
Ping and Bookmark the properties (I use Onlywire for $3 a month) and you'll get traffic.
All the other ways mentioned are good too, but choose to use what ever you can manage yourself. At least until you can outsource.

    Hey roxstar,

here's some hints: long term traffic, use SEO, , and by SEO I mean combine on-page SEO and all kinds of off-page SEO(link building with article marketing, video marketing, web 2.0 marketing, forum posting, etc.)
But when you need a lots of traffic fast, you need to think a little bit outside of the box, if you don't want to pay for PPC or PPV

I use Twitter, and it's a good source of traffic for me. I use Facebook somewhat but don't know how to use it for marketing besides sending people to my fan page (don't want strangers being a friend).

Alright, well, I'm doing pretty well now. I am using SEO, as well, but it's hard since my niche is so competitive.

So what I'm seeing is that I should be getting more into the web 2.0 kind of stuff?

Write an awesome blog post, rewrite it, post it to article directories, turn it into squidoo lenses and hubpages.

LOL! Hahaha, well, I'm in the process of that. My 12 Hour Affiliate thing in my link is the free version, then I'll have another free version that people have to opt-in to get, then a complete video deluxe version with bonuses and stuff as the big program.

I'm going to be slowing down the traffic-driving time a little bit so I have more time to write, but I will still be doing these things. I'm also going to be getting to directory links, although they don't build traffic, they do still build authority.

I always try having quality content, as well =) Although 1 in 20 posts or something I send out my link-bait hahaha.

Try out article writing & submission(Article should be SEO enabled one). Web 2.0 back linkings are best if you do the best do follow back linking choosing high PR sites. Videos marketing, twitter & facebook are other power ways to optimize your site.

But, check out your on-page optimization is 100% done before you go ahead with off-page optimization works. Sometimes, even the best off-page SEO wont work if the site is not monetized properly.

Its a post from my blog, but i think its appropriate for this thread

Submit Your Blog Wherever You Can!
    1. Submit your blog to directories in your niche.
    2. submit your blog to all the free directory and search engines.
    3. Submit your site to free website review sites like coolsiteoftheday.

    5. submit your articles to article directories like article base and associated content

Make Use Of Free WebSites To Promote Your Blog!
    6. write related articles on WikiPedia with your blog url in it.
    7. make a hubpage for your blog, with a little bit information about your blog.
    8. make a wiki page for your blog.
    9. make a squidoo lens or more with a link to your site.

19.create an account on stumbleupon, and stumble each and every article you write. (one of the best ways to drive traffic to your site for free)
    20. join as many forums as possible, especially forums related to your niche

Take Advantage Of Free Tools And Plug-ins!
    21. place a "digg it" button right after your post, to make it easy for your readers to digg your post.
    22. use a comment notifying plug-in to let your readers know about new comments. believe it or not, most people read more of other peoples comment on your post, than your post itself.
    23. use social bookmarking plug-ins to make it easy for your readers to submit your post to social bookmarking site
    24. install "tell-a-friend" plug-in to make it easy for your readers to let others know about your post.

(people like to find what they want fast. i myself sometimes give up finding a particular article or site in my huge favorite file, simply because i don't want to spend 5 minuets to go through the whole list. a favicon is like big spot light focused on you between hundreds of other people! You can also use a favicon plug-in
    30. use free press release services to gain visibility.
    31. Use pingomatic to ping RSS aggregators.
    32. use free advertising sources like craigslist and backpage to post ads about your articles or blog in related categories.

    Other Bloggers Can Help Too!
    33. talk about or if you can interview a trusted person in your niche
    34. Leave comments on blogs in related niches or any niche for that matter.(don't spam, leave genuine comment, as you would like others to do so for you)
    35. make a banner ad for your blog and exchange with other interested bloggers.
    36. use blogroll to link to other bloggers in your niche in exchange for a link to your blog on their blog roll.

Use Your Blog/Site As A Tool To Attract And Keep Visitors!
    42. provide freebies, like free ebooks, free downloads and etc, to your readers.
    43. once in a while run a contest related to your niche and encourage visitors to participate for a prize, and do give a prize to the winner, no matter how small. it will help to establish your persona as a trusted blogger, and once people see you as a trustworthy person, not only they will keep coming back to you, but they will bring other visitors as well.
    44. use common questions related to your niche for the title of your article.
    45. use keywords in the title of your post. keywords in title is one of the easiest and most important techniques of search engine optimization.
    46. use a small place on your blog to have your blogs complete url ready for those who wish to link to your blog.

    Extra!
    56. Put your blog URL in your forum signatures.
    57. use your blog name(if aplicable) for your user name in forums and when leaving comment on other blogs.
    58. ask your friends and family to Digg and stumble your posts. a post with more diggs or stumble, means more visibility.
    59. put your blogs name and url on a bumper sticker or something like that, and attach it to your car. big corporations pay people to place their ads on their car, you don't have to pay anyone, use your own car and also give some stickers to your friends and family and ask them to stick it on back bumper.
    60. make flyers with your blogs name and a short captivating headline style description and pass it in the mall or parking lots. if you use a good headline, at least 60-70% of the people will visit your blog out of curiosity, and who knows how many will become your diehard fans!(readers)
    61. and last but not least, be patient and give it some time. no one goes from 20/30 visitors a day to hundreds and thousands of visitors, over night.

Now of course not any methods that is producing results for me, is going to be good for you as well. Depending on each persons abilities and commitment, different methods work in different ways for people. But one thing is for sure, it takes time and hard work.

I would guess you want "good" traffic so I would go to places where people that need your product hang out and let them know what you have to offer. It is easy to say gett followers from Twitter or make a video but the main thing is really offering something to people that they want. They then do not look at it like spam.

There are a lot of good suggestions here that I won't repeat, but the one thing I didn't see was building up a good quantity of content. Google loves sites with a large footprint, so part of on-site SEO is to build not only quality content, but quantity. It does have to be good content though, as quantity without quality is just shooting yourself in the foot.
