Post your Video Marketing Tips here!

Hey Guys,

I've been on a bit of a video creation bender over the last few days, making short 3-5 min vids for youtube etc. I've put today aside to edit and encode them all and thought that while I'm waiting for them to 'render' (using Sony Vegas) I'd use the time to learn as much about video marketing as I can...best ways to upload, where to upload, hints n tips etc.

Any top tips?

PS. I've already done a search on the forum...just looking for more quick tips!

Well, for upload/distribution, I can definitely recommend TubeMogul.

The free account has more than enough features and even if you only upload to a couple of the largest video sites, it's really worth it.

Plus, when uploading directly to YT, I often get errors. Uploading from TubeMogul always works, on the other hand.

Another tip: Include a good amount of text in the video's description, so that the search engines have something to latch on to.

Finally, take some time to set up an appealing profile on each of the sites you will upload to. It's a one-time thing and it can help you build trust and relationships much more easily than if your profiles are all empty.

Post something controversial. Something negative about Obama for example... Or how global warming is a scam, etc.

Nice work guys...my favorite so far is to leave a good 1-2 minutes of blank space with your URL at the end of the video. That way the viewer wont be tempted by the related videos that come up at the end.

Oh, that's a good one. Maybe not a full two minutes, but definitely make sure that the video doesn't end abruptly on a screen that doesn't show your URL.

Make your video interesting. Most videos are extremely boring...just showing the person droning on about whatever...

Here is a great post by Rich Schefren where he talks about how he split-tested several delivery methods (his usual method vs. implementing Billy Mays' tips).

His previous post on Billy Mays is a must read as well.

If I'm the viewer of your videos, and if you leave a 1-2 minutes of blank space with your URL at the end of the video,I'd just close the X button and leave.

Make your links to be visible throughout the video from the beginning and maybe the link will stick in my mind so that at the end I would visit your site.

      Chameleon,

Thanks for asking a great question, I've learned some things.

I'm with Rick, your video should be interesting, have a point, include some production value, and a solid call to action.

My tip is check out Digital Juice. They have some great quality backgrounds, graphics and animations that will really up the production value of your videos.

Get a haircut, shave, dress well. If you're in a house shirt with messed up hair claiming to have six figures, I won't buy it.

Also don't be boring. I think 95% of all marketing videos are boring.

I second the tube mogul recommendation. And taking the time to make your profile really nice on each site will make a difference. On some video sites there's nothing you can do, but youtube's is really customizable. You want it to look like you care about your channel and you're a real person etc.
