Besides Money Do Any Of You Use Incentives To Get Serious Work Done?

I've been having a hard time lately sitting infront of my computer for long periods of time. Even though I tell myself I am making money, I find I need some other type of incentive to make myself work. I found when I break things down into small blocks it makes things much easier.

It's like when I had a job I would say "okay, it is only a few more minutes before break" and when I came back I looked forward to the next one. Does anyone else here use incentives to get themselves to get more work done? Besides the obvious monetary rewards which may come as a result.

You need a purpose and a vision beyond "Making Money".

I find this problem with most struggling IMers. They
only think about making money, which you find is really
a very low motivating factor after a while.

Making money is great. But to really get inspired you need
a reason, a vision, something beyond yourself that you
    are trying to create.

That's what keeps you up at night, and working when
    you don't feel like it.

Dedicating yourself to servicing other people
(which is what business is) is what you could try
    focusing on.

Self Actualization is one's true purpose. Everything

Uhm well a small to do list planted next to my pc makes me run through all my tasks on the list. I have found that if I don't use a to-do list, I can sometimes spend hours doing nothing. I make it a priority to create the list before I go to bed at night.

Yes I do this to make money but ultimately I'm doing this for the things I'll be able to experience. I vision myself with that Ferrari, Big House, Holidays all year round, everyday will be Saturday to me.

You gotta love the process or you're not gonna take care of it!

I do it for the freedom it will bring me to do what I want with my life.

There must be something else you enjoy doing in your non IM life. If not, then start exploring things you find interesting. Many people have hobbies they are passionate about. Some love to travel. Others involve themselves in their community.

Reach beyond your IM work and really do some reflecting on what really makes you happy.

Whenever I have a hard time going back to work on my blogs or on customer blogs, I look at the picture of my kids I have on my computer. It makes me realise why I do it: being able to stay home with my kids and raise them as I want them to be raised. Being able to create a home instead of just a house where we come to eat and sleep. Those are the things that matter to me, and to be able to keep doing that I need to work, it's as simple as that.
