Has anyone else noticed the bug in "All-in-one-seo-Pack" plugin ?

I have been playing with a few of my Wordpress sites for the past day, trying to work out why I had the pipe sign----> | in my home page title, I didn't have it in any of my title tags, so I came to the conclusion it was something to do with the format of the SEO plugin.

The standard page title format in the plugin is: %page_title% | %blog_title%

And it has been this format in the past versions too, but without the homepage problem/bug, so there was
no | before the blogs title on the homepage, e.g. "blog title" instead of "|blog title"

I still have older versions of the plugin installed on some sites, and there is no problem with this issue, but since I have upgraded the "All in one SEO Pack" plugin to current version 1.6.8.1 this problem effects all the sites with it installed.

The only way I managed to solve this is to alter the plugins format to this: %page_title% %blog_title%

Which is missing the pipe symbol ( | ) but that means the rest of the pages also don't have the pipe symbol, so title's end up like this-

"About Us" Page For example:

About us Blog title

Instead of:

About Us | Blog title

Anyone else noticed this, or have any suggestions???

***I also forgot to mention, if you change the title name via the plugin, it does not work, the tilte will not change to what you have entered in the box...***

It doesn't matter, it won't hurt your rank at google. But if you don't like it without pipe, then you can use @ or something else between the post title and the blog title, so it will looks like:
    %page_title% @ %blog_title%
    about us @ blog title.
I use that permalink for my pages

BTW, you can set different code for your post

That's not the point, I'm not worried about the rankings, it's a bug in the plugin that's quite annoying, and hasn't been a problem in the past versions.

I still have the pipe. Maybe you would like to reinstall again.

I stopped using the all-in-one-seo plugin. I started to use the Platinum SEO Pack plugin. It is the same basic plugin and serves the same purpose.

Hmm... I have the All-in-one SEO Pack and it's upgraded on all of my sites. Have not had this problem?? Could it be a problem the new version has with your theme?

The strange thing is, I just updated the plugin on another site which is pretty much the exact same layout as the other one, and the theme is exactly the same, basically they have different content and that's it.

Now one site is ok, the other is not??? I have deleted and re-installed the plugin many times, but still no luck! I am now totally confused  because now I don't know if it's the plugin for sure?

Maybe it is the theme of your site. I am using this plugin on a number of blogs and I don't see that problem at all. Change your theme and see if it changes.

    !IDIOT ALERT!

Finally cracked it, I somehow had "static page" selected in the wordpress "reading" options, and there was no page actually selected for Home.

I was experimenting on a few sites about 3 weeks ago, and added pages to be used as Home, once I changed them back to normal, I must have forgot to select "latest Posts" LESSON LEA|RNT

    Thanks for the comments Everyone!

Glad you figured it out! I had a moment like that today, it happens . I actually contacted hostgator technical support just so they could tell me I was typing in a file name incorrectly. You live and you learn, haha.
